Tom Vercetti Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Nice EP set. It's very glassmouth'd. 2nd time I seen that Buscabulla one being posted. Haven't gotten around to it yet. I tried to like the Ian William Craig one but for some reason it didn't work for me.
Glassmouth Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) (#200 - #184) #200 Wet Baes Stay Quote Mexican singer, songwriter and indie producer blends an incredible Michael Jackson-ish sensibility for 80s pop hits with a funky and vapor-wave-y atmosphere that intoxicates and moves with an almost sexy vibe #199 Heaven It's Not Enough Quote Italians Do It Better debutante band is like everything Johnny Jewel has offered before but in a dramatic way, It's Not Enough is a credits scene in a Drive-like movie and we love that #198 Omar Souleyman Mawal Quote Legend Omar Souleyman offers an exotic ballad with hardhitting violins, vocals that invite to wonder and a really sexy groove #197 Cold Cave Glory Quote Cold Cave is once again at it with those midnight anthems that sound better sitting at the roof of a building contemplating the city at its darkest hours that goes along so well with those messy and new wave-like vocals #196 Werewolf Diskdrive It Is What It Isn't and It Isn't What It Is Quote Think about this one as of the corniest and crackheadiest (not sure if that's a word) bop of 2017, Werewofl Diskdrive seems to take themselves too seriously and the result is simply awesome #195 Sufjan Stevens, James McAllister, Nico Muhly & Bryce Dessner Pluto Quote An epic and very well build track that goes sounds like a celestial dance with a feeling that for some reason takes me to the first time I heard Cosmogony by Björk #194 Lola Coca Dream Date Quote Ska pop singer and songstress Lola Coca takes us with her in this dreamy ska pop anthem about crushes and falling in love in the best way possible taking a bit of that inner Pharell out for a walk and doing it just the right way #198 Pharmakon Transmission Quote Transmission is a walk through an empty hospital hallway while the lights go off and on in random ways, Transmission is a crazy chase and someone trying to run away from whatever is behind them and Transmission also is another amazing noise and industrial ode to whatever Margaret Chardiet is screaming about #197 Prurient Barefoot God Quote Prurient's Rainbow Mirror's opener is brilliant and takes you away almost immediatly in its grand and dark world that recalls a crazier and creepier Hans Zimmer #196 John Maus Bombs Away Quote John Maus knew what he was doing with Screen Memories and one of the best examples of the success of this record is Bombs Away a post-punk and new wave ish kind of dance gothic track that moves smoothly and is ultimately too fun to not repeat over and over again #195 Triathlon Couch Quote Think about a song talking about being on a couch... sound like something you would consider a 'parody' song? well... kinda... but kinda think again too, Couch is a groovy 80s anthem to whatever you think when you have a crush on someone and you sit on a couch to think about it, man, that is some good **** #194 Converge Eve Quote Eve is a glorious piece of heavy rock and screamy-ness with a dreamy atmosphere that just goes the right way to make this 7 minutes of gorgeousness #193 Buddy World of Wonders Quote KAYTRANADA and Buddy team up for a perfect dance-hall inspired hit waiting to happen, Buddy goes greatly amazingly well in this instrumental and it sounds immediatly bop-y #192 Juniors del Gueto La Sociedad de Medianoche Quote The Cure is here and epicness of 80s prom anthems too, Juniors del Gueto builds a track gloriously and I'm so ready to see what these guys have to offer next year #191 Young Dreams Cells Quote Young Dreams's Cells is a beautiful slowburner song with a lot of jazzy vibes that are enough for, at the very least, a good groovy headbanging session #190 Brand New Lit Me Up Quote Science Fiction's Opener is quiet but effective, nostalgic and sad but not melodramatic and at the same time is epic in a lowkey but punching way #189 Cherry Glazerr Sip O' Poison Quote Cherry Glazerr goes OFF in this amazing album cut of their epic and so ready to be dancer 'Apocalipstick', Sip O' Poison moves like the perfect almost grrrl riot-like banger with songs about drinking poison and epic ''ooh ooh ooh ooh OW OW OW'' that are not only fun to move to, but dance to scream with #188 Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith To Feel Your Best Quote To Feel Your Best is a gorgeous bubbly pop cut that closes Aurelia's The Kid in a beautiful layered and colorful way too #187 Beach Fossils This Year Quote This Year is a summer-y and also pretty ****ing cool song, takes you to various places with amazingly well produced guitars and violins coming here and there to give the finishing touches to this jam #186 alt-J Adeline Quote Like most of alt-J's RELAXER record this song is lowkey, at best, but unlike the rest of the record this one does it in a magnificent folky way that recalls beautiful landscapes and nostalgic goodbyes for some reason #185 Midnight Opera Stars Grow Cold Quote Stars Grow Cold is one of those songs that no matter how much times you hear it you will always hear the same heartwrecking sound in the same way and feel it the same way too, Midnight Opera's singer is a dramatic and really Siouxsie-inspired perfect final touch to the already good instrumental #184 Demi Lovato You Don't Do It for Me Anymore Quote Lovato is one of those popstars that is, at least for me, hard to not underrate vocally despite having proving me wrong multiple times, here Lovato serves probably one of the best songs she's ever put out in her career with magnificent vocals and a feeling that sinks right into your marrow more will be made soon! Glassmouth Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) #10 BILLIE EILISH BELLYACHE Quote Bellyache is a wonderful example of how Billie's voice and songwriting is refreshing for the genre she's doing, ironic and straightforward pop music, we adore that. #9 DUA LIPA NEW RULES Quote Super well constructed dance pop music, a hit that got away, Dua Lipa's real breakthrough hit really did live for the hype, it's a glorious pop song and a really empowering girlfriend anthem #8 MURA MASA 1 NIGHT Quote Mura Masa, when focused (apparentl) is able to produce joyful tropical flavoured pop bops and with the help of Charli, this becomes an amazing and catchy tune that got stuck in my head for really really long #7 GIRLI HOT MESS Quote Hot Mess is a really fun pop track that blends a really weird Avril Lavigne and Beck into the same pink haired girl and adds it a heavy british accent... and somehow it works perfectly #6 CHARLI XCX BOYS Quote Boys is one of the best examples of why Charli XCX should not be underestimated, despite having released some questionable material in 2017, she is, at the very core, an amazing pop-songwriter and it shows off throughout the entirety of this, almost ironic, pop song about boys #5 PARAMORE HARD TIMES Quote Hard Times is wonderful and Talking Heads would be proud of this amazing track, Hayley as always delivers and adds a lot of spins to her voice that I never heard from her with a lot more eccentric jumps that make Hard Times groovy and really weird #4 LANY SUPER FAR Quote LANY's brand of pop music works because it's very well made, the 80s inspired song mixed with a weird the 1975-like feel makes this an elegant synth-poppy cut that is super enjoyable #3 LORDE GREEN LIGHT Quote Lorde's triumphant anthem Green Light is a house inspired pop song that recalls a nostalgic feeling and also delivers some good pop songwriting #2 CARLY RAE JEPSEN CUT TO THE FEELING Quote I'm starting to think Carly Rae Jepsen can't release a bad song since EMOTION was released and she keeps proving it over and over again, Cut to the Feeling is an euphoric and amazing synthpop cut, oh, Carly, we love you #1 RINA SAWAYAMA CYBER STOCKHOLM SYNDROME Quote Man, I have no words... from the moment this song started I knew it was pop perfection Edited December 12, 2017 by Glassmouth
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 Wet Baes Stay ^ Sounds interesting, I'll check it out, do U have links? I don't really know what to think about your pop lists, the songs are (mostly) good! But the wrong decisions were made. I'm going to be honest! CSS is my least fave off of Rina's solid EP.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 dunno how that happened, lol, I think it's bc I copied and pasted the song.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Bombs Away, Lit Me Up, World Of Wonders , Eve & Barefoot God Nice start. As for the pop songs, love your top choice.

Pedro Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Wouldn't be a best of pop music without New Rules, right?

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 I couldn't get into LANY but I love your top 10 pop songs

Vilppu Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 except for New Rules which I personally think is overhyped and not that good and 1 Night (though it knocks live) these are all fantastic
