Worldwide has nothing to do with the US charts. Look at New Rules for example.

I mean it's doing well irrespective of streaming weightage issues. It was going to be 1 either way.

Which means that sales should be weighted more in order to balance out the monopoly on the industry that streaming is creating.

When digital sales were at their peak and streaming era was just in its inital phase, streaming wasn't weighted more just to "balance" things.

If 80% of music consumers are using streaming now, then it's logical to weight sales more, as it clearly is the most popular format in 2017, and the charts should reflect popularity, not adjust weights to give sales the same strenght as streaming, when only very few people purchase music now.

But not to the point where sales are overweighed in importance.

If it comes a time where sales only account for so much, it's time to accept that and not artificially inflate their impact. This is no different when physical CD singles were dead and radio had a monopoly on Hot 100 points. At the end of the day, the weight of the metrics should match their relevance.

Streaming IS the industry

im glad, sales have less impact now. It makes harder for “dedicated” stanbases to rig the game

No it was not lmfaoooo. Rap 10 years ago was no better than it is now I’m screaming

it was bad. The beginning of the end of hip hop by selling out for quick lil commercial ready jingles but it's still better than this era of music

an insult to even suggest today's music is comparable to the past. bad became worst.

In any event, I'm ok with gucci gang hitting #1. why not? urban is in.

I honestly don’t think so, 2007 was the height of commercial rap.

most of those are classics though and some of the best R&B music out there. Today it's literally flash in the pan trash.

So in 2016-2017, Beyoncé earned 10 top 40 hot 100 hits, with 6 going top 20 :jonny:

this makes no sense. if more people are streaming then streaming needs to hold the most weight. it makes NO sense to keep increasing the weight of value for an increasingly smaller and smaller group of people.

Not the early 2000s where Em, nelly, 50, Jayz , luda were easily going multiplat?

Yet Havana is #1 on the United World Chart so what is your point?

I meant commercial as in quick lil generic rap music that sold a bunch of ringtones.

So it makes sense to you to increase the influence of a metric becoming less representative of overall consumption.

People keep complaining about all the mumble rap but there's only 1 song like that in the top 10. Rockstar isn't mumble rap.

This top 10 is very musically diverse.

So Havana is never going #1 then? :biblio:

Also, :rip: at Gucci Gang.

It has a very small chance next week from what Ive gathered from @Monster Megamind but im not sure, no predictions have gone up yet.

But you can always help by streaming and purchasing all versions on iTunes. :)
