Divine Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Quote Taylor Swift has today that each physical CD purchased from her website will come with THREE digital copies. We’re not sure what the reasoning is behind this as only one of the four copies will count on next week’s chart. Maybe the Swift camp is concerned that buyers might not receive their physical order on release day. According to the Tweet, orders delivered by partner UPS will include codes for the buyer to “redeem one code, and share the other two codes with friends and family.” It’s not uncommon for a digital download to be provided with a physical CD or LP, especially if the physical shipment may extend beyond the cutoff for the first week. This is, however, the first time we’ve seen three copies provided free of charge. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=309288
brainmaniac Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Generous Queen sacrificing her own sales like that
Cake Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Three copies? I bet Taylor doesn’t personally know about this or she’d shut it down and make everyone buy their own
TheCheetahwings Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 At least this will ahut up the people pretending it would count as 4
muddysquirrel Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 But ATRL told me she a snake and money hungry? Weird. That seems generous.
chilicheese01 Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Why three digital copies instead of only one?
Crescendolls. Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 What's the reasoning behind this then ?

Save-Me-Oprah Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 She obviously knew this. It’s very clear cut in the rules that free copies don’t count for Billboard. unless you have Tidal report the numbers.
Squall Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 (edited) It was logical but well, at least ATRL can try something else Edited November 10, 2017 by Squall
liberalmusiclover Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Why would people think it would count for more than one sale? Some albums purchased as Walmart offer free digital copies (like ARTPOP and PRISM) and they only ever counted as one sale...

KimmyBella Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 She knew what she was doing... and failed.
Green Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Why is she giving away 3 free copies per album that won't count for the charts?

Zymphonic Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 The reasoning was that at $15 + ~$10 fees/shipping, the average price per product would be greater than the $3.99 necessary for counting on Billboard's charts. Idk the precise numbers, but generically that was why people thought it seemed shady. As is, I cannot understand the point other than incentivizing the UPS deal and spreading positive word of mouth.
KareBear Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 But I thought she was a greedy snake? Atrl was wrong again?
