Wtf?

Rihanna is making music that can be played on pop radio. Beyonce is not. That is a conscious decision by her.

4 disagrees... Beyonce can't get a massive hit if she tried.... that's why she changed her single from Grown Woman to Drunk In Love and scrapped the whole album for Rihanna's sound...

My only problem is that Sam Hunt needs to drop the "Country" classification. He is most definitely not country and the reason he doesn't classify as R&B is that he would flop faster than ever. :sorry:

LOL

He's really not worried about genre classification at all... It doesn't matter if you think it's whether Country or R&B. It's just good music!

And if he was classified as R&B, he'd still be successful.

No, no he would not be as successful. He's not even country either. There's a reason why he's classified as country and not R&B and why he hasn't popped on rhythmic/pop radio yet and this is coming from somebody who likes Sam Hunt

I don't think the formula change is affecting her. The song is doing equally poorly on sales and streaming.

It's barely started tho so it's pointless to assess its streaming. It's not even on TTH.

But it'll hurt her and other streaming-based artists in the long run.

Just another example of Billboard dragging its feet to the future.

I agree that it's a bad formula change. Luckily, the current industry trends don't seem to be abating anytime soon.

Obviously, it should be noted that TTH doesn't make or break a hit– we've had songs that are in the 120s/130s on Spotify that were on it and songs in the top 10 that weren't. Ariana has been an artist that hasn't really needed playlists to get big streaming hits. I still don't know what it is that is making Everyday struggle so mightily. I figure perhaps she's just overexposed a little bit, but that's a hasty guess.
