I didn’t see these same people complaining when Harlem Shake went #1 because of its chorus :cm:

+ the song is already a streaming monster on Spotify/AM, so the #1 crown is deserved.

I've never heard this song in full surprisingly. Just that looped chorus.

Looks like stans have a new strategy now :eli:

It's a bop though, so it's deserving.

I... don't see the issue.

This is no different than Taylor hiding 30 second bits of LWYMMD in her BTS videos.

It is different because it tricks users into thinking they're listening to the full song on YouTube, then when they realize it's just the chorus (after their YouTube click has registered as a stream), they're encouraged to stream the full song elsewhere. It artificially inflates the number of streams.

Taylor's BTS videos included the full song/video at the end of them. It didn't force her fans to go somewhere else to give the song an additional stream.

It doesn’t even matter because the song was a destined hit the moment it came out. It went straight to #1 on iTunes and stayed there for the longest and it’s streaming numbers were in insane.

No, her latest BTS videos just have 30 seconds of the song at the end.

Again, this isn't anything different than what already happens. If they put up a 31 second preview like Calvin did, those views would have counted still. Having it the right length just gets people to click on the video to get them to see where to stream the full, as opposed if they clicked on a random pitched unofficial upload elsewhere that didn't link to Spotify.

The 40-second chorus is looped, meaning just one play of the chorus is already a stream regardless that it's looped.

They could easily put up an official audio, but they want the streams mainly on Spotify/AM so he charts higher on individual daily play charts there.

The only "trick" is the length to get people to click on when looking to listen to the song on YT, but it directs them to the full song.

Mess! This is what everyone does! Complex lost with this.

If people didn’t like the song, they wouldn’t have gone to stream the full thing.

This isn't an issue at all. It's smashing on streaming and iTunes too so it's a deserved number 1.
