Look at The Foo Fighters and The Killers who dropped out of the Top 50, things like this will keep happening until we have a #1 album that only charts for like 2 weeks

Cheetos Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Shania is still top 5 in pure sales! What a legend.

So wait for 1-out in album chart in the future.

Still top 5 in sales is good. After I saw the drop for The Killers I was expecting something similar tbh She needs to release a single for HAC and AC radio. Country will pay her dust, even Miranda (the current best selling female in country) isn't getting too much support there.

dussymob Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 The real winner is A Boogie, barely dropping in SPS.

Movimento Perpétuo Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 The Killers' sales are abysmal Promote this era or give more three weeks of tour bundles, fatties. Y'all are already rich.
Zymphonic Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 1 hour ago, Tylerbv said: Nope. I assumed he meant out of the female country artists who are currently sending new music to radio (features aside). Either way, Carrie and Miranda have been smashing for the last decade (Taylor, too, before she crossed over). What's problematic is they are the only two women who have been able to challenge the men consistently. Lately even they have been struggling. In the 90s when Shania hit the scene, women briefly owned men on country radio. Collectively they received more than 50% of the overall airplay (52% at their peak iirc) on a year-on-year basis. Unfortunately, after Shania's semi-retirement, Faith's relatively meek comeback to her country roots, and the establishment turned its back on the Dixie Chicks, "bro country" took over. Suddenly every song was about beer, trucks, dirt roads, or heavily implied gang-bangs of underage girls in barns. Country radio has gone so far beyond the bounds of sexism (let alone ageism) that I truly would not believe it if our country hadn't also elected a Cheeto as President. I wish the women would band together and do what women's tennis players did in the 70s when they created the WTA, demanding equal pay for equal play. In this case our girls merely need equal play. Imagine if Carrie + Miranda + Shania + Faith (& Tim?) + Reba + Dolly + Lady A + Kelsea (+ Taylor could make a statement) threatened to boycott country radio, TV, and awards shows until they received equal representation. More than half of the people listening to these stations are female! It is ludicrous that women hold only 4 positions in the T40 airplay rn. Only one of those ladies is T10 (Carly Pearce #7), two are T25 (Maren Morris #12), and Miranda + Kelsea are bringing up the rear at #27/#28. --- OT: Shania's drop is much better than I expected. The higher you debut the more room you have to fall, yet if predictions hold she'll "only" drop 86.6%. That's less than the 86.7% for Madonna who also used tour bundles and debuted with fewer SPS, as well as the ~89% for Katy (bundles). Beyond that, she should remain in the T20 which beats out last week's drop from the The Killers (1-59), LCD Soundsystem's drop three weeks before that (1-56), and Brand New's drop two weeks before that (1-97-OUT ). At #5 in pure sales and retaining 2/3 of her SPS, with zero promo, Shania is holding wonderfully.
