BeautyNumber2 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Congrats to Cardi B on earning a #1 single, which is difficult to get, not everybody has that to their credit. She is immortalized in pop AND hip-hop culture among legends like Lauryn Hill & Li' Kim. Truly a historic moment for her, hip-hop, and female rappers.
Ferret Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 First number one in years whose artist is totally unknown.

Raver Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) All these rappers / singers praising Cardi Today really is such a historic moment Not some of you trying to discredit her by claiming Fergie & Kesha as rappers Edited September 26, 2017 by BarbFatale

My goodness... I don't think it's so much about shading Iggy. More like making her #1 seem more special than it is. People are always making up new Billboard accomplishments with conditions no one even thinks or cares about

Good point

After the same song was #1 for 16 weeks (4 months). #1’s this year: 1) Starboy (1 week) 2) Black Beatles (1 week in 2017, 6 in 2016) 3) Bad and Boujee (3 weeks) 4) Shape of You (#1 debut, 12 weeks) 5) Humble (1 week) 6) That’s What I Like (1 week) 7) I’m the One (#1 debut, 1 week) 8) Despacito (16 weeks) 9) Look What You Made Me Do (3 weeks) 10) Bodak Yellow (1 week, so far) Blocked songs, #2’s: I Don’t Wanna Love Forever, Wild Thoughts, rockstar (3) So far we’ve had 10 #1’s this year, but we’ve also had 5 different 1-week #1’s this year, coincidentally we’ve had the longest charting song tied with Mariah, and then a 12 week #1. With our average few week #1’s. I hope we end up with 15 at least this year, I think we only had 10 last year? Edited September 26, 2017 by Mattyboy

Discounts used to be a huge help, I don’t think they will be as big as a boost anymore with Apple removing Hot Tracks. Songs that went #1 (faster, back to, or at all) with a discount: - Starboy, Bodak Yellow, LWYMMD (to rebound to #1) Not sure if Humble was, I can’t remember. Edited September 26, 2017 by Mattyboy
Green Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Niall again at #11 (I thought he would fall)
