So I guess every song with a catchy chorus is pop now?

Stop this.

Yes it does.

This is clearly a chorus that is catchy as it's repeated 3 times in the song. Fancy is just more manufactured.

[Chorus]
Said, "Lil bitch, you can't **** with me if you wanted to"
These expensive, these
is red bottoms, these is bloody shoes
Hit the store, I can get 'em both, I don't wanna choose
And I'm quick, cut a ***** off, so don't get comfortable, look
I don't dance now, I make money moves
Say I don't gotta dance, I make money move

If I see you and I don't speak, that means I don't **** with you
I'm a boss, you a worker, bitch, I make bloody moves

Just because it's repeated doesn't make it pop.  If that's then case. N.W.A also had pop choruses

This week's points (using Simm's formula):

1. Bodak Yellow - 434 (+ 76)

2. Rockstar - 388

3. LWYMMD - 369 (- 56)

4. 1-800-273-8255 - 343

If Cardi remains stable she may stay atop for another week.

Billboard weighs certain streams lower for the Streaming chart? Did we know this already?

None of it matters... she is next FEMALE rapper to go #1 since IGGY.

Congrats to Cardi B; it's quite an accomplishment.

When did Post Malone become a thing?

MTE! I mean the song is pulling big WW numbers and it's not exactly catchy or that good but w.e.

SO TAYLOR needs to double her sales from this week or even more to get back to 1

White Iverson was a huge hit but he didn't really become a thing as an artist till late last year (when his album Stoney came out). That ended up spawning Congratulations, which became even bigger than WI, and the album has been a big success.

Bodak" bullets at No. 2 on the Streaming Songs chart with 46.4 million U.S.

"Rockstar" debuts at No. 1 on both Streaming Songs (44.1 million) and Digital Song Sales (80,000). (Note that "Bodak" boasts 46.4 million U.S. streams, while "Rockstar" racked 44.1 million, yet the latter is No. 1 on Streaming Songs; that's because those weekly sums are raw totals before weighting was applied that places a higher value on on-demand streams than programmed streams, like those on Pandora, where "Bodak" sports a significantly higher total than "Rockstar.")

It makes sense, a song that people are actively trying to listen to should be higher than a song that's just being forced down everyone's throats.

But I wonder how they calculate streams from Spotify Free users then, since it's technically not on-demand. And then you could argue that radio should be less of a factor as well, since radio is almost never on-demand.

It sounds teen pop to me tbh.

Really hope rockstar can eventually snatch #1. :duca: I hope urban and pop radio aren't too hesitant.

Post Malone is the only real competition and may dethrone her next week.

:doc: Really? I am just saying the song is unique as there are no sung elements to soften it and appeal to non-rap listeners, not that it takes anything away from the female rappers that have hit #1, but Bodak Yellow is unique given that fact.

Also, you can take that "but everybody else does it, so you shouldn't bother to comment" nonsense somewhere else because I think it's stupid in all cases and I don't participate in it at all; I'm commenting here with Cardi vs. Nicki because it's relevant here. I don't even care about Nicki like that, there are just a million and one posts about her every time there's a Cardi thread; it's dumb af.

Now if you would kindly hop off my quote button.

Yeah I'd agree if we were talking about One Dance or something. Lauryn had barz and vocals. cardi has barz but they are both rap songs

LOL i guess the point is that to pretend as if this is not new in this thread because you favor certain artists is apparent. this is what gets done. When Gaga returned to the top 5 guess who were shading when katy failed to reach #1 guess who were shading?

to pretend that it's a big deal because people on both sides of the cardi/nicki thing aren't doing it for kiis is just obvious why it's being doing at this point.

I'll continue to quote things I am interested in responding to...my point was made and I didn't mean to upset...just stating the truth.

Spotify free streams are on-demand if you're on desktop. And even if you're on mobile where they require shuffle (though there are ways around that, like making playlists where there's only one song), you could argue that's different than Pandora because you picked an exact selection of tracks to play from whereas with Pandora you just give it a genre/theme and it picks tracks for you.

So I do believe they count them as on-demand.
