Look at my other reply sis, I said potential streams and sales. Obviously no one will ever know how many sales and streams were lost exactly but I can see it being a huge amount.

I know on my local stations I've heard Ready For It nonstop and Look What You Made Me Do like twice :rip: and from what I've seen that seems to be the case for lots of cities and casual listeners are getting more exposed to Ready For It and more likely to stream or purchase that

And yeah tangible airplay was definitely lost since there is only so much airplay that can go around and most stations aren't going to give the same amount of rotation to two songs by the same artist at the same time

The point is, despite some minimal airplay conflict the effect is not that substantial. LWYMMD was going to fall off pretty quickly anyway.

I disagree. Look at all of the other female rappers (Missy, Kim, Nicki) who have hit #2 (some more than once) and were just barely kept off of the top spot. Cardi is achieving this as a new artist at that. I don't even stan for the girl, I just think that it's an amazing accomplishment.

Cool! Glad we sorted that out. :celestial:

Super Ball was Nicki’s first breakthrough single and went #3. It could’ve gone #1 in the streaming era. Iggy also went #1.

The biggest robbery of the #1 spot for a female rapper was Missy's "Work It," but it lost to "Lose Yourself" all those weeks.

Last Friday Night and Party Rock Anthem still would have blocked Nikki in streaming. Those songs had crazy high YouTube streams for their time. LFN and PRA have both passed 1B views, where as SB is approaching 700M on their official videos.

Yeah...ppl are always saying SB would be went #1 In the streaming era but it was going up against 2 streaming hits as well

Maybe it could've snuck a week at #2...but all 3 were doing damage across the board

Wait so The National debuted at #2 and not #3?

To be fair, her team is doing everything possible to hit #1 like sending texts to people living in the US and crossing over to pop radio and such. Not a bad thing at all, I just think it smells of desperation a little.

True, but it's understandable since this is likely her only chance at going #1. It's too early to say but I doubt she'll be sitting at #2 again with such an easy margin for #1 anytime soon.

How is it an overstatement??

In the last 7 years (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Rihanna's been the only women of color to go #1 on the Hot 100.

Cardi will be breaking this barrier not only as a women of color, BUT also as a female rapper. Let alone breaking a record that Lauryn Hill set yearrrs ago.

Yes, Lauryn did it... 19 years ago. It hasn't been done since. This is still a very big, important moment for women.

Especially women of color!

:deadbanana2: I mean, racially she's a woman of color. But...come on. She couldn't sound and look more European.

The only reason it's always so celebrated when WoC succeed is because they are marginalized. Halsey won't be, since she doesn't share any normal characteristics of a classic WoC.

You know what...

I do think it's overstated but I don't think this should be an argument to use halsey and janelle. I mean you might as well you rihanna. they are not rappers.

Never said it wasn't. I just think "Work It" should have gotten a week at #1, but it was up against a juggernaut. Any song having 10 weeks at #2 deserves a week at #1. It was robbery TO ME.

I knew Thunder would smash in the fall. As soon as I heard it back in April :dies:

it sounds like something youd hear at a football game or high school game
