So basically Ready For It potentially "stole" 135 points from Look What You Made Me Do :shakeno:

Look What You Made Me Do would have had 522 points and been far above Bodak Yellow :shakeno:

Nnn this logic :rip:

What in the world :deadbanana3:

You think every person who bought or streamed RFI would have bought or streamed LWYMMD instead :dies:

The overlap of people who already bought LWYMMD and also bought RFI is probably pretty high and I really think the promo helped more streaming wise than it hurt, but maybe it cost a few Spotify streams... Not that RFI is killing there either.

Youtube you just have the video on her personal account that's blocked on mobile, so that certainly stole nothing.

Maybe RFI really stole some airpaly, but nothing close to 30 points

Look at my other reply sis, I said potential streams and sales. Obviously no one will ever know how many sales and streams were lost exactly but I can see it being a huge amount.

I know on my local stations I've heard Ready For It nonstop and Look What You Made Me Do like twice :rip: and from what I've seen that seems to be the case for lots of cities and casual listeners are getting more exposed to Ready For It and more likely to stream or purchase that

And yeah tangible airplay was definitely lost since there is only so much airplay that can go around and most stations aren't going to give the same amount of rotation to two songs by the same artist at the same time

I know what you said. Even saying potential makes no sense if you say 135 points.

If the songs were better received by the GP they clearly would have spun both LWYMMD and RFI hard. Taylor is a big enough name for that, but yeah maybe it cost like 5M airplay.

RFI is a promo single. It's job is to promote the album. That includes the lead single. I honestly don't think it cost any sales or streams at the end of the day.

Edit: and Look was more than 4 times the airplay of RFI. So not sure how casual listeners on average would here RFI more often

I want Taylor to block Cardi so everyone will be pissed

RFI is not just any promo single though. Its performance in getting so much airplay like this is pretty unprecedented. None of her other promo singles have ever acted like this way before. And it came only one week after LWYMMD did too so she's been pretty much fighting against herself almost since the start :rip:

Ready For It being out at the same time is actually smart for her overall but bad for LWYMMDs performance. Radio and consumers would have had no choice but to get Look shoved down their throat and get burnt out on her. Now there's an alternative they can choose from

Even though I can't stand Bodak, I would rather have it #1 for two weeks then have Taylor return the week after strictly for chart aesthetics. One week #1s are an eyesore lol :deadbanana2: That Post Malone song being competition seems so weird and random too.

Nothin is wrong with one week number ones, y’all are never satisfied. First you hate when it peaks number two and now one week number one. Omg!

Read the other posts sis. I didn't say it was a guarantee it would get ALL those points :skull:

But even if it got a fraction of it, that might been enough to sneak to #1 :gaycat3:

It's not that serious :skull: Just that as a chart watcher, it looks a little messy but obviously in the big picture a one week number is better than no weeks at #1 lol

I guess with this persons logic Problem would have gone #1 if it wasn't for Break Free and Bang Bang stealing like +500 points or whatever :lmao:

Or Fancy should have ruled for many more weeks if Problem and Black Widow didn't steal all it's points :lmao:

And I can't even imagine the point stealage with Bieber when What Do You Mean, Sorry, and LoveYourself were all top 5 for weeks lol :rip:

all this fussin and fightin...so cardi will be #1 next week and that's all that matters at this point.

so yeah...:dancehall:

Uh no that's not close to the same thing :lmao:Youre talking about two different singles released MONTHS apart where one starts to die off as the other rises. That's normal. :rip: And I never said it was taking all of the points or even a majority :lmao:

This case is two songs basically released back to back one week apart. Everyone has talked about how RFI is hampering Looks progress. Nearly Top 20 on pop radio for a "promo single" is unheard of. It's essentially having two singles out at the same trying to climb at the same time and when that happens something has to give

Not like that either. Sorry started getting airplay in October of that year. Love Yourself started getting airplay in December

If your strictly talking about robbing airplay then the most points RFI could be stealing from LWYMMD is less than 30... which it is stealing some spins on Pop and HAC but nothing that would make up the gap between Bodak this week.

Those were both done by Lauryn Hill.

its hard to break records and barriers when they were already done.

Yes, Lauryn did it... 19 years ago. It hasn't been done since. This is still a very big, important moment for women.

She also did it with way better music, no disrespect to Cardi.

Never said it wasn't.

but like Luis Fonsi, who also did something 20 years later, he wasn't first and didn't break barriers.  Nor did anyone on ATRL at the time go on and on of how he broke barriers, like they are with Cardi.

Both are major accomplishments. Who would have thought the (tied) longest running #1 of all time would happen in 2017 and would be a Spanish song? That's incredible! Just like it's incredible that Cardi is about to have only the second solo female rap #1 single ever (and 19 years after the first), and the first which didn't debut at the top of the charts. And this is coming at a time when, just recently, there were no female artists in the top 10 for the first time in 33 years.
