This is a super duper uber early update for next week since, once again, I'm going on a vacation and I cannot update on the desired time without being late for the nnth time. So I'm doing it now. 

• Momoland's Bboom Bboom stays on top for a 2nd week (1 - 1). 
• Continuing my new found appreciation of K-Pop, iKon's Love Scenario roars to a new peak (8 - 2).
• Speaking of Korea, K-Pop's reigning girl group Twice still has Likey (2 - 5) and What Is Love? (6 - 7) inside the Top 10
• Country bumpkin Kacey Musgraves makes stability with High Horse (3 - 3) as well as Florence + the Machine's Hunger (4 - 4).
• Ariana Grande's No Tears Left To Cry once again retreats (5 - 6).
• Arctic Monkeys' Four Out Of Five recovers a bit (9 - 8).
• Bastille's Quarter Past Midnight bursts in at #9 after the release of their music video. 
• I'm not really a follower of their music but Panic! At The Disco's High Hopes blasts in at #10. I really love this song

Throwback Number Ones

 

So this week I went home to the country side and while snooping around the house, I found my old chart. I knew I had this but I thought I lost it and this was the proper chart back in the days when I started making my "unofficial chart"

 

Before the boom of streaming, I used to (illegally ) download music and put it in iTunes and listen from there. But I also loop music in YouTube. Now this chart right here is the proper chart, not just the ones I based right now solely on Last.FM scrobbles. It combines iTunes scrobbles, radio plays and YouTube streams - I think I kept it around for 5 years. I forgot where I put this and subsequently forgotten the proper #1s every week and the Retro Rhythm was just based on ZeroChart and previous knowledge of #1s. This notebook however, had the actual #1s until I stopped in 2015 because I was then exclusively streaming through Spotify and now solely based my charts and #1s on Last.FM

What a glorious Time Capsule of handwritings. 

To reflect on this, I am postponing my Retro Rhythms and do a Chart Wide High By The Beach retcon on my previous #1s to fully reflect on the proper methodology before I solely used ZeroCharts. As you can see, back in 2011 I wanted to name my YTT skYiaN.cLoUd cHarTz (This was my oldTRL username ), and on first glance Marry The Night by Lady Gaga was not a #1 but rather Beat Of My Drums, because even though MTN had 1 play more than BOMD based on my scrobble, I streamed the hell out of BOMD on YouTube due to this GIF that was circling around ATRL at that time, that's why I awarded BOMD the #1 spot instead of MTN.

 

So... I'll do a major overhaul and see which #1s I posted where fraudulent. It may take some time before I post Retro Rhythms again. Marry The Night, first victim...

I am familiar with K-Pop, but this is the first time that I fully immersed myself in other K-Pop idols and I'm loving it.

I'm currently nursing a broken heart right now and this song is really helping me a lot. It's such a chill song with such bittersweet lyrics, give it a chance. Thank you to iKon's  Love Scenario for being there at my absolute worse. I just got back from vacation and all I did was listen to this song, not that much chart movement this week. They deserve this #1 (2 - 1), and I'm slowly turning into an iKONic.

• Momoland's Bboom Bboom retreats after 2 weeks at #1. A perky song like this is not what I needed right now and that's probably what knocked it off the top, I still love this song to death though. (1 - 2). 
• Country bumpkin Kacey Musgraves makes stability with High Horse (3 - 3) as well as Florence + the Machine's Hunger (4 - 4).
• Twice's Likey (5 - 6) switches position with Ariana Grande's No Tears Left To Cry (6 - 5).
• The rest of the songs move up: Arctic Monkeys' Four Out Of Five reaches back to its original peak (8 - 7), and new peaks for Bastille's Quarter Past Midnight (9 - 8) and Panic! At The Disco's High Hopes (10 - 9) as Twice's and What Is Love? departs the Top 10 (7 - 11). This prompts the return of Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa's One Kiss (14 - 10).
