Alex21kw Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 CTTR is definitely not the type of sound Spotify listeners eat up. IFIC is only slaying because it's Abel's song. I'm honestly expecting it to go either way for her
Green Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Sam Hunt debuting at #38 with just 2 days of sales That's great for a country artist. He would have debuted in the top 20 with a full week
myfirstlove Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 33 minutes ago, NEZ said: thought you were trolling with that. lol anyway technically rihannas never flopped with a lead single. all of her lead singles have gone top ten. taylor has tim mcgraw and adele has hometown glory. russian roulette only "flopped" to her standards and compared to all her other leads but its one of her best leads so its kind of balanced. Adele wasn't popular in the US during 19 so idk if we should count that.
DELE2125 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) Is someone here really calling "Hometown Glory" a flop? Adele was an indie artist back then, anyways Edited February 8, 2017 by DELE2125
Rentboy Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 "Its release was very messy" is another ATRL standard cut & paste excuse for a flop. Rise had a big premiere. It had the world stage and humongous exposure on the back of the Olympics. It had a video. But it still flopped everywhere. Cause it was plodding & dreary. Her starpower wasnt enough to overcome that. She has big hits cause she has released some cracking pop songs. If her lead single sucks it will struggle the same way. And Rise kinda spoiled her big comeback after a long absence factor too.

Not including her Christian album, obviously. We just to wait and see. I can see the meltdowns if Katy hit or flop next week.

PhreshDiamond Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 RR was not a flop what on earth. Rihanna has never experienced a flop lead single. And all her albums (apart from the first) have had 3 or more hit singles. That is pretty impressive. AGLM: SOS, Unfaithful, Break it off GGGB: Umbrella, DSTM, Take a bow, Disturbia, SUAD RR: RR, Hard/Te amo (US/Europe) Rude Boy LOUD: Only Girl, WMN, S&M, Cheers TTT: We found love, You da one, WHYB UNA: Diamonds, Stay, Pour it up ANTI: Work, Needed me, Love on the brain no one comes close
PhreshDiamond Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 MR sales updated to 142k Were the top 10 predictions using 180k? or did they factor in a likely drop from the 180k prediction on kworb? Its doing better on radio though than it was doing, so maybe that will balance out the sales drop.

So it shouldn't go down too much but it's gonna be CLOSE. Also I think streaming numbers are way better than expected, or at least somewhat. Ahhh this is rough.

Its almost out of the top 50 on Spotify so idk about streaming, does Kworb 142k prediction factor in the decline its currently having? or does it assume it will become stable at its current position/selling rate?
Denim Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 @simmnfierzig when you were doing your prediction for next week, how many streams and radio audience did you give gaga? with the new prediction being 142K with sales, is a top 10 debut still in reach?
B-Rabbit Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Does it really matter with Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw song? It still went platinum and she was pure country back then not to mention the name was terrible. She went mostly pop after that and didn't flop and pure pop on 1989 and we know how that went

Smh Does it really matter whether Tim McGraw by Swift was a flop or not. It was a terrible song name, still went platinum, and she was pure country back then which usually isn't as successful as pop singles. The album still sold over 5 million in the US and sold like 10 million singles while Rihanna only had one more single from that album and if didn't go platinum. Taylor started becoming more and more pop over the years and she started having more and more top 5 hits until she essentially was pop on WANEGBT going #1 since it was easier to be a crossover hit which Rihanna had been doing since the beginning. Taylor "officially" went full pop on 1989 and we saw just how successful she is as a pop artist by having 3 #1 singles and 2 other top 6 singles. So all in all, if Taylor started in pop she wouldn't have "flopped" with Tim McGraw but there are reasons why she did flop to some people and she has proved it is essentially irrelevant whether she did or not
legendaya_SSLP Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Damn then that sucks MR isn't selling over 150k. Oh well :(

Other than being labeled as NBC's Olympics song it was totally rejected by NBC or would you say it received the same support as "Home" in 2012? And lol at "big premiere" when it wasn't even released on the biggest music platform for 2-3 weeks.

So you honestly think Rihanna is better on charts than Adele and Taylor Swift? They are literally the two biggest artist in the music industry today (along with Beyoncé). The delusion is real.
