Dumpster Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) Excited to see Kate's performance on Spotify. Id Selena and Ariana can do well on Spotify, I don't see why Katy couldn't as well. Also, doesn't Meghan do pretty well with her lead singles too? AATB was huge on Spotify if I remember correctly, and No did good too right? Edited February 8, 2017 by Dumpster

There's no precedent for such a single from her since Spotify blew up in 2015. I make my prediction based on the likely sound of the record (i.e. pop without urban influences) and the demographic composition of her fanbase, which I believe to be predominantly buyers. And I don't think she has the same reach among younger members of the GP as someone like Taylor does. Your understimation of Katy is not cute... If the abomination that is that 50 Shades Part II single is pulling 1M streams on Spotify, what makes you think Katy's lead won't???????

B-Rabbit Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I think a lot of you are overestimating Katy Perry in 2017 imo. I know Rise wasn't an official lead single but still it was a flop.

To be fair the release of Rise was a biT messy with the whole Apple Music exclusive making Spotify mad at her, her not releasing the video right away, and NBC not actually promoting the song in the Olympics like they said they would. Her campaign so far for Chained to the Rhythm has been on point.

I am pretty sure NBC used her song during the Olympics and she released the Olympic video within the day the song was released but we shall see. I miss the Katy Perry of Dark Horse and before Edited February 8, 2017 by B-Rabbit

It was but not to the extent that the press release made it seem like it would be. To contrast, "Home" by Phillip Phillips was EVERYWHERE during the 2012 Olympics. I'm not saying Rise couldn't have done better, I'm just saying that to me it seems more like an anomaly for Katy, rather than a new standard as far as her power goes.
Communion Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I think Katy will comfortably be #1. It's like people forget her streaming is great for an artist who debuted in 2008. She's got this.

Sure, Spotify hadn't blown up yet, but that was the second most amount of weeks at the time on Streaming Songs.

That doesn't contradict anything I said, though, and DH has trap influences, whereas CTTR–which I just listened to the snippet of–is definitely straight-up pop.
QueenofCopyPaste Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Katy will debut #2 I think. Ed's performing on SNL and album release is near
