Youtube is already infested with Drake covers. He should upload something to his Vevo.

If I added correctly, he did 36,143,321 streams in the US on Spotify yesterday (an increase from the 35M on the first day).

If his Apple Music numbers held up the same way, he could be approaching 200M+ US Streams already. :jonny:

They're just gonna keep increasing as the week progresses, because Sunday is the lightest day for streaming. He should be able to plow through 300M streams and hopefully end up with around 350M :duca:

But yeah, GL has not been doing too great. I was anticipating that because of its sound, though. Moreover, it doesn't have that much airplay.

Why did this happen on YT when it was getting like 80-100k streams a day every day before this? :deadbanana: Any ideas?

Does Drake have some sort of issue with Vevo? Because otherwise his self-sabotage doesn't really make much sense. He could be a force there, 'Hotline Bling' has 1 Billion views if i'm not mistaken, and that 'One Dance' cover has like 200 Million views or something!

The lack of Vevo actually worked out for him for One Dance on the UK charts where Youtube isn't counted, but yeah I think part of it is just him and his label trying to force people to use paid streaming, because you can find his pre-2015 songs on there.

You are right the numbers would be huge regardless. Although without a vid on youtube it could be at 800m spotify plays instead of 600m... We will never know but the point is it probably does boost his numbers significantly.

having your songs not on youtube forces people to play them more on other streaming sources

what is complicated about that

Exactly, there are people who only watch videos on youtube and don't "use" spotify or apple. And yt pays less, so Drake's decision is understandable.

I want to know when he'll peak. Like his numbers are crazy but with all the music he puts out you'd think people would be a little weary.

I don't think it'll be anytime soon.

It's not easy to be massive for nearly 8 consecutive years, and I think one of the main reasons he's been able to do it is that he transcends genres. He fuses pop and rap and R&B (and recently dancehall) naturally into his tracks. It gives him a fanbase that's always capable of expanding.
