No one is denying the impact of playlists :skull: it’s just that playlist push or not, this is underperforming/underwhelming

and do you actually think that Nicki would pull even close to Drake numbers if she had a take over like that? :dies:

Shes underperforming because she doesn't have much support on spotify.

That's what we said but y'all came back with "she's a big artist, she doesn't need playlists"  keep your stories straight:lmao:

where did I say she would pull Drake numbers? Where? :rip:

I mentioned Drake to point out the importance of playlists.

She’s underperforming because of lack of support AND because she is underperforming playlist or not

I mean it’s not even the #1 album on AM for some time now, and we’ve all seen the predictions. Are we gonna blame everything on the minimal Spotify support.. or..?

First, we were talking about spotify.

Second, she's doing well on AM. Travis is just a monster, the 2nd biggest album of the year.

Nicki isn't the flop you desperately want her to be. 150K is great for a female rapper without hits, and on par with most pre-release predictions.

Did you expect her to do 400K? :rip:

150K is great for Nicki's 4th album.

Nicki really missed the boat on streaming somehow. It's crazy. Sadly I think her age may be a part of it the way people keep bringing up how she's 'almost 40'. Her new stuff clearly doesn't appeal to the young demo that aggressively uses AM/Spotify. She's still doing okay considering all that though.

Travis is doing brand new merch bundles + money giveaway (a bribe tbh) for his 2nd week. Nicki can play dirty too.

And given that female rappers seem to have an expiration date, she's doing great. 150K is the 2nd biggest 4th female rap album ever, only behind Missy's mainstream magnus opus Under Construction

1) She disappeared during the four years where streaming really blossomed

2) The younger demo wasn’t old enough to witness her heyday and is only being enticed by 2014-2018 Nicki... so they just don’t care and I don’t really blame them. It’s a natural conclusion to being in the industry for a long time, most people don’t pass the decade threshold with their popularity still matching their peak. It is what it is.

but she didn't disappear

she's not even focusing on the music...she's out here beefing with ppl

she should be out here performing the songs...like call up Eminem to do a live performance...that would be dope

what was she actually doing between 2014 and 2018? i know **** hit the fan in her personal life but still... dating Meek? the Shether stuff? at the end of the day it wasn't her music and most of it wasn't at the caliber of her early stuff, OR it never made an impact so people didn't really hear it

but i agree that focusing on the music and trying to find a hit should be the priority here

i meant musically she didn't disappear per se

2014 she released her album that December carried over to 2015 (even Hey Mama was a massive hit in '15)

2016 was a slow year for her with only Down in the Dms and Side to Side

2017: Swalla, Rake It Up and Plain Jane remix, Motor Sport

I would say 2016 was her dead year and that was Meek Mill fiasco

but 2017 she did do well even after the entire Shether mess

it's just that she's being messy as hell and her antics are overshadowing her music...this is Azealia territory

yeah.. she has 27 song feature since 2014.

Let’s not forget she released 3 songs last year, one is with the biggest streaming artist of this generation.

She did, kind of. Pinkprint Decemeber.. what happened after that? We got the whole era before the album even dropped basically. No video for Truffle Butter even though it was blowing up on iTunes/urban radio. No promotion. We got The Night Is Still Young, randomly, and it was basically a commercial, months later. Hey Mama is one song.. and still this isn’t during streaming’s major rise.

But let’s not even waste time on this. She did essentially disappear, compared to say Drake who stayed on top of things and dropped 3 mixtapes & 2 LPs in the same timeframe Nicki took to release Queen, solidifying his streaming audience. Naming a couple songs she did in four years isn’t the same.

She did do great in 2017, but an album was also anticipated that we didn’t get. And yeah, now the antics/Cardi mess got chance to seep in.
