I mean mediatraffic may be flawed af but he's used the sme formula for all songs at its time and SOY has already more points than UF! and soon passing Happy to be the song with most points ever (since he started tracking 1999).

It's still top 20 WW in sales, streams, radio and almost top 5 on YT.

 

in the end of its run i think it's safe to say it's the biggest song of the centyry tbh.

Maybe not "impact"-wise but charts wise.

Every single year a new song is the "biggest hit in years". It's hard (and redundant) at this point to say whether a song is truly all-time huge or if it's benefiting from this era which definitely makes it easier to have a song chart good globally. I mean, next year we could be having the same discussion with yet another new song.

 

Rolling in the Deep, Party Rock Anthem, Blurred Lines, Happy, Uptown Funk, Shape of You, Despacito, etc all suppose to be contenders for the biggest hit of the decade at one point. 

 

We won't be able to make a real judgment if Shape of You & Despacito are truly the biggest of this decade until the end of the decade once the dust has settled.

Mediatraffic is a JOKE , they underestimate some singles and overestimate others

 

but yes shape of you feels bigger than uptown funk and is more global as well, 

 

But despacito is bigger than shape of you easily, already bigger on Spotify ,YT, and is huge in pure sales as well, I am not really sure which one sold more ww, but both should be close ,

 

And shape of you did have big impact ofcourse Atrl won't accept the truth ,

Eh, Shape Of You is among the longest running #1s of all time in tons of countries and by the looks of it it’s going to long outlast Despacito on the charts. The streaming numbers and airplay are way more stable.

Thank god they finally changed TTH. Some songs were Top 10 on there for MONTHS. :deadbanana3:

BTS is Top 20 on there. I wonder if it could become a streaming hit in the US.
