Billie famously said that "it's some of the biggest artists in the world making f---ing 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more. I can't even express to you how wasteful it is. It is right in front of our faces and people are just getting away with it left and right."

 

Fast forward just over a year after that interview, her album now has over 12 different physical vinyl variants, with a new one just announced yesterday:

How do you reconcile her comments with her actions?

Some people just can't help but run from one hypocrisy to another over the course of their career 

 

The entire industry is capitalized upon to this level whether we like it or not, at least some girls are honest enough to not pretend otherwise

But yes they've aged quite well since they're all green-friendly and recyclable (as much as they can be under how vinyls are normally produced). When your album's still smashing after a year and not just for a month, there's certain demand that comes with that but I'll be perched for when she out-variants TTPD. I'm sure you'll be the first to let us know given how updated you are

It would've been fine if she didn't make the snarky comment  adding insult to injury is that her vinyl pressings sound terrible cause of the eco-mix technique used.

HMHAS vinyl variants upon release: 8

 

Oh so adding variants now after release is a sign of demand and not chart manipulation, like y'all cried for a whole year when a CD with acoustic bonus track blocked Billie

Different colored vinyls ≠ different secret voice memo/bonus track/song/easter egg on top of an entire double album with vinyl variants of that to match…but you know that

And yet… all the variants have the same tracklist, the album is the same, what changes is the color pressing. 

 

Funnily enough, that's something the PTSD songstress very meticulously avoided in order to cash in from the obsessive fans who would have had to buy 4 variants to get all the bonus tracks physically on vinyl.
