Because the majority of ATRL are bandwagoners. When something is popular, they run to it. When something is not, they hate on it, together.

A YouTuber that reacts to songs () made a video about Accelerate and since that video got popular, that is now the general concensus.

I love Christina but this song isn't lead material. She had like 5 other songs on liberation that would've been far better choices.

… most of the reviews that you quoted used words like "weird" or "experimental". This biggest and most glaring issue is the other vocalist and his terrible, out of breath voice in a song that absolutely did not suit his voice at all. Overall the song itself felt random and unfocused; furthermore it definitely wasn't single material and she really needed to come out the gate swinging.

See, I can't take Xtina fans serious. Everything she's made has aged like milk left in the sun, and Accelerate only stands out because it was rotted on arrival.

I say this as a fan since 98. It is one of the worst songs in history next to dance monkey. 
 

I have never been angry after anticipating a song so bad. And the fact that she made it a lead was a slap in the face. She had right moves, like I do, deserve which all would've been better singles. Hell even would've been ok if she released fall in line out first. But she made that piece of auditory **** the first single. And I'm not even going get started about that video. Just disrespectful to her fans and even to her haters.
