Rih's big sale was her cool factor. Has her Smurf and Black Panther soundtrack (among other things) kinda dimmed her cool girl vibe? Yes we know she is almost 40 now and is a mother but there are tons of cool mamas in their 40s and 50s etc

Her streams are there because of catalog, just like all the big artists back in the day has one. She just has the biggest catalog with her singles, that's all. Her stream isn't indication of her coolness.

I think she is still cool in many's eyes because she is very fashionable, but each year it's declining.

No, people won't care about this new (bad) song, they'll just pretend it doesn't exist. Rihanna is still the most relatable female artist to people of all categories: men, women, young, old etc. It would take a massive change in perception for the public to move away from her.

Rihanna kinda is the standard for "cool" and she has subtly branded herself that way throughout her career. She gets dragged all the time by fans and haters for various things but she's always carried this unapologetic attitude about herself so none of it really sticks.

 

It also doesn't hurt she's beautiful and has a back catalog full of bops

Umm her beauty brand is literally one of the most profitable ever…. If she wasn't cool, no one would be buying it lol …. but I suppose in an industry full of Jeffrey Star's and James Charles' it's not that hard to be cool and well-liked lol

As a former fan, I agree. She turned her back on the people who made her famous and supported her music. Her fashion declined from the iconic 2013–2017 era to something unremarkable. She never matured, while her fans did. She lives in a bubble, disconnected from what someone with her platform should represent in their 30s. It's sad to admit, but I choose to remember her as a cool, talented, unapologetic hitmaker up to 2018 — after that, she became someone who doesn't care about her former fans. I unfollowed her on Jan 1, 2020, after she broke her word about the album release with no explanation. Since then, she's shown no talent, personality, or value.
