The fact that studios refuse to do the same with Madonna's biopic tells you everything about how much they believe in her biopic.

Robbie's movie was directed by Michael Gracey, director of The Greatest Showman (which grossed $460M worldwide)

 

Madonna's movie is set to be directed by Madonna, director of W.E (which grossed $2M worldwide)

i feel like the only thing that keeps this thing far from getting done is Madonna herself. She refuses to take the hint that she is NOT a good director. That movie was a disaster waiting to happen for her, her image AND the poor actress. Like... Madonna, girl just let proven filmmakers do their ***** job!

Unpopular opinion, but I'm glad that Madonna is actively involved in this project. At least she isn't waiting until it's too late to get the story of her life told from her perspective. Look at Whitney Houston; so many people have sold stories about her since her death, and there is no document from her to tell her side of the story. She's had countless books, documentaries, unauthorized films, and even a flop biopic that was frankly a disaster. I think Tina Turner, Janet, Mariah, and Madonna are going the right way with getting their stories told, be it a book, film, documentary, or series. Even MJ had a book (Moonwalk) and an authorized TV series before his death. Prince was working on a memoir before his death, and his estate released it. As well as the Purple Rain movie being semi-autobiographical from that moment of time in his life. It's really important for her POV to be told. She is literally the biggest-selling female artist of all time. 

 

I don't think the series will flop. I didn't think the movie version would when that was happening either. Her story is very inspirational because, as she said, I'm still here.

I hope it's not some linear storyline about her entire career, that would be actually boring to watch, we don't need Wikipedia but told in visual. There should be a clear narrative and theme.

Limited series is so much better than a movie. Madonna has such a long and outstanding career that cannot be reduced into only a even 3 hours long movie.
