I voted Cruel Summer because of the popularity as an album track and then it was driven by fans and tiktok. I think it was more exposed than SIO, so more people know it x

i'm a shake it off liker but i'm surprised at these results

 

i guess it's to do with when SIO was released, which was just about still a time when something could get everywhere and so it feels popular in a public way

 

but cruel summer is a real phenomenon, even tho these things are more siloed these days i can't really believe it's not the more popular song

Hit singles all over the world, album sales, celebrity status getting bigger, the topic of celebrity gossip, etc. 

 

Nowadays she has touring success and huge US album sales. But she has never had a run of hit singles like she did with 1989...
