  1. 1. Will Miley see more success with the album?

    • Absolutely
    • It's too early to say. She needs one smash single.
    • Nope. She's over.

With the marketing of Something Beautiful being aimed overall as being a visual album and everything revolving around the overall project, is Miley transitioning into an album artist this era? Will her album see more commercial success while standalone singles might see some underperformances? Discuss.

She barely sold 119K first week with ESV with a huge hit like Flowers, she's not selling more

I think she kinda has been aiming to be one for a little while now. Flowers being such a huge smash seemed very accidental and not at all what the plan was (and we sort of saw ESV's roll out plan change in real time as a result).

We'll see. So far the songs she put out are pretty stellar and I feel like she is going to release her best album to date.

I think Miley hasn't released an album yet where all the album tracks are on-par with the quality of the singles. So I do like the new approach for the new album and hopefully the rest of the album is as good.

Everything she's done since dead petz has been superficial and pretentious af. At least ESV has some gems in it

Whatever she's aiming for - it's not working :sorry: Flowers was a fluke

If we're strictly talking about art, I'd say she always seemed an album artist to me. I appreciate most of the time she's dropped new songs they've always been intended to be part of something bigger, aka an album. She's not your run off the mill droplets artist. And I can say this without being a big fan of her output (sadly).

No, because in order to become album artists you actually have to release decent albums. And Miley so far in her 18 years old solo career has only released two albums that were better than average/horrible (Bangerz & Plastic Hearts).

Not with this approach. Not when she reffers to herself in the 3rd person on social media :rip:

idk I want Plastic Hearts 2.0 tbh

but I only heard a little bit of her new song and I liked the end of the song when it picked up, if she puts more rock into the other tracks and not most of ESV sounding songs (minus violet chemistry because that song was perfect) then will see.

I've always considered Miley an albums artist. She creates albums as experiences. That's what it's all about. She's always given us an era each album. Idgaf whether it's gone number 1 or not. Her albums are a journey for real

Yes. She will always have the last laugh. Getting the biggest acclaim of her career and coming for AOTY

It's the streaming era,  you need hit songs to move units outside of the first week or two.

So the answer is no.

idk but honestly she needs to drop this class act shtick. Loveee Miley but she's the last artist I would think of when I'd want to listen to a serious, expensive-sounding record. She's known for being wild with all her releases, this whole roll out almost feels like cosplay.

This is the worst possible analysis of Miley's career given her history.

Her biggest selling albums are a lot of artists' moderate success. She can't push huge album units with smash singles, I don't see how she'd now...

But then again I'd never guess she'd have a Flowers' smash hit after years of flopping, so I'd give you that.

It's the whole point of a rebranding though... I'd say it's working. It'd have been more embarrassing if she was still showing her tongue at every red carpet.

It just doesn't feel natural. ESV was okay, I could notice some organic artistic growth even if I wasn't the biggest fan. Now, this just looks like a desperate attempt at critical acclaim to me.

It's more difficult to be an album artist in the streaming era. Hit singles also drive album success without them you need a huge fanbase who will stream your album consistently and buy a decent ammount of physicals too.

Who's even an album artist now? Taylor obviously. Lana, Gaga, Beyonce? The latter two of those still rely somewhat on singles.
