Post flop clarity?

Have you ever seen the light about a song and realised it's bad after it flopped?

I'll start:

Lottery - Latto

I stan plenty of artists, songs, albums, films that attain no success whatsoever, so flopping rarely impacts my opinion of something.

However, I definitely have the opposite problem: post smash clarity. I encounter a piece of media and I think "oh this is fine," "I wouldn't change the station," "decent film," etc and then it becomes an inescapable monster smash or sweeps the Emmys or whatever and I think, "oh, this is actually egregiously overplayed / overrated and my opinion of it is rapidly diminishing." Many such cases.

Camila Cabello - I Luv It

Spoiler

I still believe (even though it didn't really flop) that My Oh My should have been a Havana/Señorita sized smash and I will die on that hill idc

It's more of the other way around. You like a song, then it becomes a hit and gets overplayed, and it starts to feel annoying instead of enjoyable.

Yes.

But i usually am good at knowing whether a song will smash or flop in advance

So you only liked the song at first because you thought it would smash?
No, I don't base my song likes on success
