fememeist Posted March 30 Posted March 30 (edited) I thought the mini film MVS Ari did was beautiful, but in a gay maximalist multiverse, she would've gone balls deep with the budget spent and get Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet to reenact their movie counterparts and flesh them out into Ariana/Peaches ♡ universe. Thoughts? Edited March 30 by fememeist
Popboi. Posted March 30 Posted March 30 It fully serves its purpose as an era closer and companion to the deluxe re-issue. Not everything has to be a crazy budget extravaganza. 5
Jude Posted March 30 Posted March 30 It's an eye candy with a touching message behind it. I got teary a bit especially at the scene where her dad was playing the piano while she was singing. For a directorial debut, I think she did great.
genio Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I enjoyed the film and thought she did a great job as a director, if you consider that this is her directorial debut, it makes even more fascinating. The best parts of the movie to me were the ones during twilight zone and supernatural. I also loved the fact that she included her father in the video, it makes it more heartwarming and emotional at the same time, knowing how far they have become with their relationship these days. My only small complain is the dandelion part where she's playing the performing Popstar. The Eternal Sunshine (S) part was exciting, but the dandelion part lacked a bit of interaction or movements/dancing. She looks gorgeous though and the set was great too. I loved that she went through different areas of her life and made the older version of Peaches become the main representation of the story. Overall, it is a visually pleasing short film that is following a clear concept. The budget is there and the song choices are fitting. It was nice to receive a short film as a fan, it's not your "usual" music video and gave us something exciting to look forward to and enjoy together with the new music.
TheFireLexus Posted March 30 Posted March 30 No original ideas. It's a collection of references to other films that ended up making me realize how so many of her music videos are just recreations of other, more original works. 2
qurl Posted March 30 Posted March 30 it was cute. i guess there wasn't any way to bill it other than as a "short film" but it's kinda just a collection of music videos with a small small narrative component. it didn't have to be anything other than that either and she only did this bc she's proud of the album and wanted to treat her fans. what's not to like ??!
GipJo Posted March 30 Posted March 30 It's fine, serviceable for its theme. Right now Gaga still is the best MPG at directing own music videos in this decade. 1
wantedyoutogrow Posted March 30 Posted March 30 it's a cool companion piece to the album and it does its job at completing the era. Hopefully her team does a physical release for it but I doubt it I'm kinda disappointed she didn't include past life tho

Her music/music videos lack original ideas at this point.
ariananext Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I got very emotional, it's nothing out of the ordinary but I thought it was something different and new that as a fanbase we had never had. I think some things could have been done better though! The family part was the best imo.
Digitalism Posted March 30 Posted March 30 It's just a lot of music videos together It's not a film at all
