I Am... Sasha Fierce appreciation thread

Posted (edited)

before i am crucified, this album is the Bey album that is closest to my heart since i became a fan of Bey because of the Video Phone remix with Gaga. i always preferred this album (and B'Day) since then up to today.

though what sparked this thread is, i just got this Japan Platinum Editon CD in the mail today when i got home from work and i have to say there are ZERO skips, even the remixes. (though the Kanye remix was always a skip lol)

I know this album is dragged a lot, but it has some Bey essentials tbh.

Sweet Dreams is one of the best pop songs ever made like:WAP:

Sweet Dreams

I always had a love/hate relationship with it as an 'album', because as a body of work it lacks in her overall discography,  especially since she let go of the double disc idea for the repackage.  Which made it a playlist.

I love the music and the era itself though. Classics like Halo, Single Ladies, If I Were a Boy, Sweet Dreams and Diva.

Bops like Radio, Why Don't You Love Me.

Career highlights like Smash Into You.

The beautiful Scared Of Lonely and Hello.

:jonny6:

Also this reminds me that I Am...Yours need a streaming release

one of the most nostalgic pop albums of the late 2000's for me

It's simply her best album. After 4, she became insufferable.

Nobody does it like Beyonce in the 00's.

I misread your post and assumed you haven't heard 4 yet. :pancake:

It does have some good moments (and some terrible ones) but i think the production sounds so dated now that it's hard to go back to it

This album will always have a special place in my heart. I know a lot of people call it dated or whatever, but it has so many classics and one of my fave Beyonce song ever (Smash Into You).

This whole era was an EVENT. She was EVERYWHERE. You really had to be there.

Also I will never forget that on April 28, 2009 as I was on my way back from school, I just randomly saw Beyonce walk the streets of Vienna. :jonnycat: What a time to be alive.

This is one of my favorite Beyonce albums. It has some of her biggest and most memorable records to date.  I wish we got more albums like this from her.

It's a great and well crafted album but you dodo heads insist its her worst and she listened to you :biblio:

It's a cute album. Her worst, but beyonces worst is better than a lot of other girls

While it's nowhere near her best album it was a really fun era. Sweet Dreams will always have a place in my heart.

This album reminds me of Britney's Circus, both great albums but in terms of themes and consistency they pale in comparison to cohesive masterpieces like 4/Bday and Blackout/ITZ.

I can't stand If I Were A Boy, I didn't even like Single Ladies when it came out (I was wrong about that one lol) but I was glad when she released Sweet Dreams. I like Diva now, but at the time it felt a bit generic and songs like Video Phone… well I have no idea why she released as a single.

However I loved Halo from the first moment I heard it, it was a classic. I went to the tour for this album as well and she was insanely talented especially vocally.
