right where you left me Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Which pop girls have never, not ONCE used a sample in any of their songs?
coney island Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Ironically, Ava is coined as the girl who always samples - but where she is in her career, she has less samples than most pop girls had that deep into their careers. 1

hoax Posted February 28 Posted February 28 None? I can't think of anyone post like... Mariah who haven't sampled something at least once or twice. Adele, I guess? As a proportion of her discography, I think Taylor's sample rate is really low, as I can only think of two samples across all ~300 of her songs (one being of herself on Question and the other being I'm Too Sexy on Look What You Made Me Do), but... 1

This was true for Marina until literally just this month with Butterfly's instrumental sounding a bit like like A Touch Of Class - Around the World, but even that is not a direct sample. Otherwise, yeah no melody or instrumental samples so far In any case, I love the use of samples and hope pop girls never shy away from them 1
