This. I would go with Hummingbird Heartbeat since it's my favourite of the bunch, but all three filled a niche that would get them major airplay and sales success.

Hummingbird Heartbeat is the obvious answer. None of the others would've gone as high.

Hummingbird Heartbeat.

Circle the Drain is the only other good non single but I don't think it would've worked as a single.

Hummingbird Heartbeat for sure. It's pure radio candy.

Peacock and Dressin' Up could've gotten there as well if they had an eventful video like Last Friday Night had. The sales in that week probably would've been enough to put them in the top 3 for one week.

Peacock. It went #1 on the dance charts and is platinum.

Maybe Peacock f/ Kesha or Lady Gaga

"Hummingbird Heartbeat" is the only possible answer.

Hummingbirg Heartbeat easily, a summer smash

Hummingbird Heartbeat for sure. Love that song.

Not sure if it would've gone anywhere on radio but Not Like the Movies should've been a smash :jonny6:

Realistically, any and all of them could have hit the top three.

Hummingbird Heartbeat & Dressin' Up!

Hummingbird Heartbeat probably had the most potential. Peacock could have gone viral with an iconic video too... but probably would not have done super well on radio.

Dressin Up was potentially a very easy top 5 hit for her tbh. Especially if she remixed it with a rapper or something. I remember hearing the demo and thinking it could be a huge hit. The official version on the album is actually a tiny bit botched and would need some polishing before radio release.

Circle The Drain was my fav album track but it would have flopped as a single.

I don't think Peacoke would have been a a smash like some. I know it sold a lot even without being a single but I just think it was too on the nose and radio wouldn't touch it most likely.

Hummingbird Heartbeat and Peacock

Peacock got her platinum certification in 2014 without being a single, imagine if it was a single

I know we all love Hummingbird Heartbeat but I have to be honest it sounds kinda redundant listening to it after listening to the other singles that actually were. like think about it: it would've easily smashed in THE PLACE OF TOTGA or Wide Awake or wherever, but even though it's easily better than several of the actual singles, it would've felt lowkey a bit like a retread after all of the ones that'd already been released

so I have to say I'm inclined to agree with OP, Dressin Up was THEE hit that got away to conclude the era, but at the same time Wide Awake was the perfect conclusion when all is said and done :giraffe:

btw Circle the Drain might always be a top 5 Katy song for me, it's stunning  but again, it's never been single material. just a brilliant album track/promo single :clap3: deserved a video tbh
