Strawberry Bubble Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Madonna was a pioneer in being a controversial figure in the media. She had everyone against her at some point, including the Vatican, but she never seemed to have a big crisis over it. Instead, she kept throwing fire onto the flame. Why do you think this happened? Badgalbriel Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Breakdown is a little bit of a strong word to describe Chappell and Taylor, uh? 3

I thought about only using Britney as an example, but Taylor and Chappelle have been very vocal about their mental health during those dark times. Madonna hasn't… as far as I know.
SlowGinFizzzz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Because she's probably the strongest and most badass woman the entertainment industry has ever seen. 5 5

Sis, how's that important? People will deal with their mental health in different ways ffs 3

alestevens Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It was harder in the pre-2000s to follow a person's every move like it was in the early 2000s with the paparazzi craze and the digital age where pretty much everything is only one click away. So it was easier for controversies to go away as soon as they left the news cycle since there was no place to keep actively discussing it and bringing it back, and therefore easier for personal matters to be kept private. 4
Strawberry Bubble Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Omg, okay, I'm just going to use Britney as an example because apparently, it's very difficult for people not to take a thread personally. Please try to stay on topic—it's really not that hard. Edited 2 hours ago by Strawberry Bubble 1 1
Solaria Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Tbh I think her intentionally pushing the envelope extremely hard during Erotica was her 'having a breakdown' but not in the traditional sense. You have to remember that she came off LAP and Blonde Ambition which was her peak acclaim era at the time, and now people were revolting against everything she stood for. I think that definitely messed with her perception of things. Her David Letterman interview and her bashing of Sinead could be seen as irrational 2
liam13 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just now, Strawberry Bubble said: Don't avoid the thread's topic challenge [impossible] fine. taylor and chappell technically didn't have a break down or whatever. they reacted to the controversies they were in and sometimes some people will see it as a breakdown but it's just not. the only true breakdown was britney's. Madonna case, in my lack of knowledge, is that it's what she wanted to do, she's the controversy, she wanted conversations and that's exactly what she got. so idk what she would've had a breakdown for. 1

Pikachoo Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago her fictional story about having sex with a teenage boy without any pubic air was definitely written in the midst of a mental breakdown. we just didn't publicly see it 1

Dante Silva Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Because she is Madonna and the one thing you should know is she has nerves of steel.
B-Luke Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Becoming famous at a later age (mid to late 20s for Madonna) plays a huge role in this imo. 2 1
Kimi Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago no internet? she def had behind scenes meltdowns when she started flopping during erotica era or when mariah/whitney were outshining her. 1
Quiqui4eva Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago She was older when her career was on the way up, more independent, and thick-skinned (probably due to childhood trauma)?
Jeremiah Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Britney's "public breakdown"? You mean the time when she was harassed on the daily by the media and paparazzi, she was surrounded by vultures and there was a narrative being planted so the planned conservatorship wasn't questioned? 4 1
