Their biggest songs overall, which one wins in terms of classic status and visuals?

Both are kinda at the same level but I'd say CIL is a bit more of a classic due to it being more appealing to straight men. I prefer Poker Face tho, the mixing in CIL always sounded a bit unfinished to me.

I love them both SO much. I think CIL is bigger/more iconic but I prefer PF. Deja Vu is the best Bey/Jay collab.

Crazy in Love by far.

I never liked Poker Face. Its music video is better, though.

Bigger in what metric?

Poker Face has more sold copies, has nore youtube views, has more spotify streams.

Objectively Poker Face is bigger than CIL, if we go by twitter vibes then you may have a case.

I think this person just likes downplaying Gaga, they did the same thing here:

Ot: PF is bigger, I have a preference for PF (song and MV) since I'm a Liddo but CiL's song and video are also outstanding. CiL is also a massive song in terms of commercial success. Two remembered classics that stood and will continue to stand the test of time :clap3:

I'm sure there will be endless pages parsing the minutiae of streams and digital copies (although Gaga obviously has an advantage, releasing at the height of the digital era) but they're both classics and they both launched pop behemoths. Those horns and those opening synths are iconic and will always bring everyone to the floor. That said, I prefer CIL because the music video is better and I will always gravitate towards soul/funk over synth pop.

Crazy in Love was released in 2003; digital sales didn't exist, piracy was king and CDs sold in minute copies and were often deleted after a few weeks of sale so people would buy the album.

Comparing the dying physical market with the burgeoning digital market is illogical. The 100th best selling song of 2009 in the UK would have been the 29th best selling track of 2003; they're incomparable markets.

Early 00s tracks stream worse than later 00s ones and ofc Poker Face has better YT numbers; it was released when the platform existed dddddd. For CIL to be doing similar numbers to PF is beyond impressive.

Beyoncé's track feels bigger to me. Iconic music video, massive numbers, never feels to set a dance floor on fire. But it's minute and highly subjective; both tracks were absolutely massive and I can totally accept anyone's reasoning for Gaga's track being bigger as well.

It's CIL

However, if you compared to Bad Romance, Gaga wins

Pokerface by a mile? Espeically globally-speaking.

A more sensible comparison would be Single Ladies Vs Pokerface

If you're gonna go by bias to say that not everything is about numbers at least try and explain what makes your opinion on what is bigger a more valid metric :deadbanana2:

Nah, difference between songs released in 2000-2004 is not that big than songs released in 2005-2009.

8 tracks from 2000-2004 have surpased 2B streams while only 4 tracks from 2005-2009. 45 songs from 2000-2004 have surpased 1B streams while 46 songs from 2005-2009. If anything it shows nostalgic effects for big songs from 2000-2004 have been stronger than 2005-2009. Youtube may have not been available in 2004 but it is availble for both of them yesterday.

Poker Face: 770k views yesterday

Crazy In Love less 270k views (since it is not charting to see exact views)

They are from different decades, generation that grew up with songs don't normally use Spotify or streaming services. Or may not be interested in consuming music at all now adays.

People from 2003 and 2008 are from generation.

Poker face was a mammoth. #1 in every country and has the highest year end #1s until flowers last year. Crazy in love was just a cute top 10 hit outside the Anglo countries. Poker face is higher on AM, Spotify and YouTube. CIL is more comparable to JD globally.

Physical sales were still big in Europe. The best way to compare songs from different eras is year ends. And IL WW performance doesn't come close to PF at all.
PF- #1 for 13 weeks in Germany, #1 year end

#1 for 4 weeks in France, #4 year end

#1 for 10 weeks in Switzerland-#1 year end

#2 in Italy, #4 year end

#1 for 4 weeks in the UK, #1 year end

CIL- #6 peak in Germany, #35 year end

#21 peak in France, #87 year end

#5 peak in Italy, #22 year end

#3 peak in Switzerland, #11 year end

#1 for 3 weeks in the uk, #15 year end

TF also sold 6m more copies than DIL with album sales falling 50% from 2003 to 2008/9

Both are classics. Sometimes we don't have to put one thing ahead of the other. Both can be iconic

With this logic poker case is a bigger classic than

1. Respect by Aretha Franklin

2. Thriller by Michael Jackson

3. Purple rain by prince

4. Lady Marmalade(the original)

You see where I'm going with this?

both iconic hits, but I went with Bey on this one x
