aadrl1 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) TikTok chose an appeal to Donald Trump as it's final screen, at the same time championed the new President elect. We also know Trump is extremely popular among the Chinese GP since his rise to fame 10 years ago Do you think this move shows its power of (the app and moderation itself, not the content on the app) being used to create political narratives and shift public opinions? Gorjesspazze9 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago They really won. Censorship in this country is gonna be fully controlled by Trump and Elon 7
brazil Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Was it them writing that or was it written by the actual US government? (If it's the latter it's even more bizarre) Either way, tiktok is trying to stay open, I don't think this shows any political shift, theyre liklely just very pragmatic Edited 13 hours ago by brazil
Smarticle Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago and then Trump is gonna take credit for 'unbanning' tiktok 11
Devin Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago he will unban it to appear likeable. then allow elon to ruin the app and spread bs. 5 1

Communion Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago TikTok got so left-leaning, progressive and minority-friendly in how its algorithm promoted a feedback loop of content that the right literally created watchdog groups to go over and attack the app for being too queer. 2
teresaguidice Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago they're telling trump "heres's a massive PR win on a silver platter" as a last ditch effort to save the app. 6
Anvarie Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago This is a very dark timeline we're living in, and I fear this is just the beginning of the next 4 (+) years 12 1
Parachutes Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Beyond the pretty obvious PR setup for Trump to "save" tiktok, I wonder if promotion of pro-Trump/GOP content through the algorithms could be part of whatever backdoor negotiations are going on with the incoming administration 1
perfect blue Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago If the app is sold to Meta the algorithm will most certainly be altered, but as it stands it is extremely left leaning.
nadiamendell Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago They're being pragmatic and stroking Trump's ego because they know that's what works with him. 2 1

I think the same will happen to TikTok. 8
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted 12 hours ago ATRL Moderator Posted 12 hours ago Trump is going to be president in 1 day and has said he has considered postponing the ban. Why wouldn’t they appeal to him? 2

It's actually not. Your own algorithm* can be extremely left leaning because that's what you wanna see. But it can also show you extremely right wing contents, as how it's working in Europe now.
Alldeezy Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Yep think all of this was a set Up so Trump or elon buys tiktok so they have more ownership they make me sick to my stomach.

JustHoran Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Now we have Elon talking about bringing back Vine to replace Tiktok in the US, so honestly.. we'll see what Trump does. I *hope* Tiktok is just trying to stroke his ego so he brings it back since he's said he will.
