Instagram, Red Hot? YouTube?

Like, if you're an influencer you should be smart enough to have multiple accounts.

TikTok is still a huge, popular platform and people might not make as much from other services. A lot of people supplement their income by posting TikToks or use TikTok to grow their small businesses. YouTube shorts don't get as many views or have the same reach.

Idc about these type of influencers - you don't need a new 2025 Merc, sorry - but I have had clothing / skincare stuff rec'd to me on Tiktok by Indigenous Aussie brands which I like supporting and I imagine the same is true for many Americans (for Indigenous, black owned, and female owned businesses). Targeting fickle influencers like this seems to intentionally divert attention away from the other ways Tiktok is used. It's also weirdly cruel and petty, and I imagine most of those tweeting / liking those posts are old and annoying.

I'm more concerned and sad about all those small businesses and animal shelters that rely on tik tok to survive

It's gonna be really bad if they close this **** for a lot of people

This is unfortunate because a lot of small businesses got big off TikTok, and influencing is a job that some folks depend on.

While it's definitely important to have backup plans, diverse skillsets, etc. - social media success isn't always transferable to other mediums. There are people who were big during the primes of YouTube, Vine, etc. that couldn't make the jump to Instagram/Tiktok.

They will survive when people open their eyes to humanity because we're being forced to :deadbanana:

This thread is really misunderstanding what influencer income means to many, many people.

Are there people who make tons of money for just being hot? Absolutely. However, small creators with genuinely skilled and thoughtful content will be BY FAR the most impacted by this. As others have pointed out, major influencers will already be (or be able to) diversify much more easily. I don't think the average person understands how much money small creators can earn on Tik Tok. Maybe not enough to live on alone, but certainly enough to very meaningfully improve their lives. It's also a great way for people to promote their business/service.

Sad for those whose lives will be impacted.

Idk what's worse, her complaining that she made stupid decisions and is dealing with the consequences without a back up plan or the fact that people are sending her money.

Don't buy things if your main source of income isn't guaranteed, especially when Tik Tok has been under fire for a LONG time.

Honestly, as someone who uses Tiktok as much as IG reels, almost everyone who was smart on tiktok already moved a good portion of their audience and built a new one on Ig Reels.

I consistently see people who have like 2 million followers on tiktok have around 1 million followers on Ig Reels. The reach is different but you can definitely pop off on there.

The biggest geniuses though used YT shorts. It pays better than IG. Also the Facebook version of reels PAYS A LOT if you go viral but only a few creators with corny content cracked that audience.
