Pikachoo Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Cher is often touted as "the Believe girl" by many of her haters here. particularly from fans of 80s pop girls. not Cyndi Lauper though. that girl loves everyone and is so supportive. but in 1990, Cher had released yet another critically acclaimed movie of hers; Mermaids. It also performed well at the box office. the lead single off the soundtrack, "The Shoop Shoop song", a cover of the Betty Everett original, dominated the European charts. #1 in the UK #1 in Ireland #1 in Denmark #1 in Austria #1 in Norway #1 in Zimbabwe! #2 in Belgium #3 in Portugal #3 in Germany #3 in New Zealand #3 in France #4 in Australia #4 in Switzerland #5 in Netherlands #10 in Sweden #7 in Iceland #3 in UK's year end 1991 #3 in Austria's year end 1991 #7 in Swizterland's year end 1991 #8 in Germany's year end 1991 #9 in New Zealand's year end 1991 #10 in Australia's year end 1991 #14 in Belgium's year end 1991 #20 in Austria's decade end chart of the 90s #27 in Ireland's decade end chart of the 90s Cher smashed this hard in Europe, but everyone chooses to ignore it. well, now you can't ignore it anymore. Cher won in Europe. Edited 4 hours ago by Pikachoo 1 1

Le Grande Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I still hear this on the radio from time to time. I don't think it's that forgotten, the hook is quite the ear worm, it's just that people don't really associate it with Cher ("oh it's that song by whatshername"). But most people here would only associete her with Believe anyway.
Dante Silva Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I remember it was Number One in the U.K. for weeks. I still have my CD single in mint condition. 2
