Anyways Beyoncé is the most awarded female recording artist of all time. None of the other ladies have an album run like ST-Lem-Ren-CC and none of them have a concert performance as praised as Beychella but I'm sure others will come in this thread trying to make the argument that record sales/streams are the same thing as acclaim

Acclaim usually comes from award ceremonies and media, sales are a different metric.

 

The thing is Bey is that she's one of the best performers we've ever had but her music doesn't compare to Mariah's for instance. You can give a Mariah a pen and she writes you a hit, which is not the same for Beyoncé, the same way Mariah could never put on a show like Bey.

 

It all comes down to the artist you like the most

also  at the cherry-picked RS lists when you could've included their greatest albums of the 21st century list they made yesterday with lemonade at #1 or their greatest award show performances list which had the lemonade vmas medley at #1 as well. lemonade is also the most acclaimed female album of the 2010s and bey has 3 of the top 10 highest rated pop girl albums on metacritic (lemonade being 3rd behind brat and motomami)

And she's not alone in the list of artists, especially black artists, that never won an AOTY but should have - including Prince, Kendrick Lamar, Marvin Gaye, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Aretha Franklin to name a few.

 

I'm glad you can find humor in the Grammys racial bias though, @A-V-XYZ. Lmao. Haha. Hehe.

 

Trust me, Beyoncé knows what the score is, and if she never wins that award she's in perfectly good company with those other artists. It will never erase the rest of her acclaim and legacy. She will always be in the history books as one of the greatest artists that ever lived. Sorry bout it!

If we purely base it off of critical acclaim it would probably be Beyoncé. Her run from ST till CC has had consistent acclaim both award wise and from major music publications.

 

If we look at OVERALL career and acclaim based on all factors it would be Madonna.

 

That's not to say Taylor doesn't dsserve her spot in that category, but I feel like ever since the Eras Tour she's been way more acclaimed for her business acumen and her ability to contiously stay relevant rather than solely for her music. It's more so the 'how' instead of the 'what' with her.

A singer should be able to actually...sing? Being a good performer adds to the artistry. So Beyoncé wins.

 

Madonna, Mariah and Gaga are great artists too. BEcause they can either sing well or have a great stage presence.

 

Taylor loses because she can't sing and is a terrible performer. How is she a singer again? A famous one at that
