Some #1's performing like #49 peaking songs - so peaks don't mean much nowadays :bird:

Looks like having recent solo #1s mean nothing if they are frontloaded and completely forgotten :deadbanana2:

Beyonce really invented #1 flop songs :deadbanana2:

People on ATRL think they can gauge whats in someone's consciousness by looking at streams...which is completely stupid :suburban:

What an irrelevant stat given Rihanna's placement. She's miles more relevant than Beyoncé, Katy and Miley musically and hasn't had a recent solo number 1 compared to them.

Guess solo #1s don't really mean anything. Thanks for the reminder OP.

They only ever refer to Spotify streams as if it's the only music platform people use (and as if streaming is the only way people consume music). Just because other streaming services don't provide data doesn't mean they don't exist. :rip:

If they don't know the full picture (which they don't) they should just say that instead of using one platform and presenting it as the be-all-and-end-all.

It should be changed to #1s as a lead. Lead is more important vs. A ft. #1 and then it's not too strict either.

Meanwhile Always Remember Us This Way doing 1M streams yesterday which is more than some of these #1s, so a #1 peak literally means nothing. We like longevity here. :1stplace:

 and not you again.

having a number one song on BB100 was a real deal back then, its come from all sources such as cd sales, radio plays, charts...

Britney and Beyoncé are late for streaming era but they are doing great, britney having three solo song with 500k stream per day, while Beyoncé is crushing gaga in touring and legacy.

BREAK MY SOUL was not performed at the "Super Bowl" you speak of.

But yes, #1s don't really mean anything. It's just funny that you use Beyoncé as an example of this when UNTIL BREAK MY SOUL went #1 the "no #1" thing was used against Beyoncé routinely. But then now she's gotten TWO solo #1s the goalpost has shifted and suddenly they don't mean anything.

Can we just like, stop trying to make hits matter? At least when it comes to Beyoncé, she's proven they do NOT matter, as she's self-sabotaged countless times over the past decade, scored only two solo Top Tens in the 2010s and yet that was the decade she was at her most respected, most beloved, as a symbol of excellence and a legend in real time. She did the impossible which was not be measured by when your last hit was. Something all popstars should aspire to. If BREAK MY SOUL isn't well-streamed today, that doesn't really change a thing.

I'd venture to say that of this list of #1s, she's the only one who has not put out a music video for the #1 in question as well as not even performing, even on a tour, it while it was charting.

Years of certain fans screaming "No solo #1 since the Bush administration!" to suddenly saying "A number one is a number one, solo doesn't matter"
