Is JLo's career underrated?

A lot of people on social media are constantly hating on her and are trying to downplay or even erase her achievements etc.

I feel like some people do not realize how many global hits she actually has :hoetenks:

  • If You Had My Love
  • No Me Ames
  • Waiting For Tonight
  • Let's Get Loud
  • Love Don't Cost a Thing
  • Play
  • Ain't It Funny (Original)
  • I'm Real (Murder Remix
  • Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix)
  • I'm Gonna Be Alright (TrackMasters Remix)
  • Jenny From The Block
  • All I Have
  • I'm Glad
  • Get right
  • Holding You Down
  • Control Myself
  • Que Hiciste
  • On The Floor
  • I'm Into You
  • Papi
  • Dance Again
  • Follow The Leader
  • Booty
  • We Are One
  • Adrenalina
  • Ain't Your Mama
  • El Anillo

Streaming hits:

  • Goin In
  • Live It Up
  • Back it Up
  • Try Me
  • Se Acabo el Amor
  • Pa ti

The fact that music is not even only thing she's famous for, when she almost just as famous for her acting career and has whole catalog of hit movies:

  • Selena
  • Anaconda
  • Out of Sight
  • Jack
  • The Cell
  • The Wedding Planner
  • Enough
  • Maid in Manhattan
  • Shall We Dance?
  • Monster In-Law
  • The Back-up plan
  • Parker
  • The Boy Next Door
  • Hustlers
  • Shotgun Wedding
  • The Mother
  • Atlas
  • Unstoppable

Beyond that, she's built an empire as a successful entrepreneur, such as her fragrance line, which has made her a household name even among people who aren't into pop culture. Like my aunt who can't name a single Western celebrity, knows who she is due to her fragrance line that is her favorite fragrance.

I feel like a lot of people do not give her enough credit for how much she has actually achieved, and not realizing how deeply her fame is so rooted within the GP across all demographics globally, which is so impressive and rare.

She's one of the richest women in Hollywood with a net worth of $400M, and is the definition of being a global A-list celebrity, hence why tabloids can't get enough of her private life, and is probably one of the biggest celebrities ever in terms of media presence.  She's also the reason why Google Images exists today.

She deserves a lot more credit for her staying power and influence across the board

Unsuccessful people hate on successful people.

If Twitter hates you it almost always means you're successful in real life.

I always forget her influence and inspiration on Google Images. Honestly yes, underrated and the hate train needs to end this year. Let the girl work and earn recognition for her hard work over the recent years. She had rough luck over the last year, and I hope she works on new music snd movies to drown that out.

jlo was that It girl and is still hot! I always feel proud as a fellow Puerto Rican to see someone who succeeded on a global scale in the entertainment industry

Doesn't she, like, not sing on a LOT of songs in her discography? That's like one of the reasons I am not willing to stream

She definitely deserves more credit.  The hate train this year seemed hella forced because it was a trendy thing to do.  I think both her music & acting careers has proved have proved hella longevity.   Her acting career is having another big shift of success.   I hope she can get back into music that will do good and feel fresh just for her.   So many tore her apart this year with the "she stole Ashanti, Megan Trainor, Natasha Ramos" vocals thing.  Let's be real every artist uses background singers, it's up to them to mix with original voices or to keep them in strongly.  We know she's a stronger dancer/performer then vocalist, but she always had the drive to push the envelope with both especially with her first 3 albums.  I know I wouldn't mind another pitbull collab, I get it we're out of the mainstream EDM era but her dance pop 10's songs kind of rejuvenated her as an artist.   Here's to hope that Ms. Lopez has a great 2025 professionally & personally.

She sings in all of her songs. Stop believing everything you read on Twitter, and go look at the credits of her songs. Do you know how background vocalists even work?

Very much so, her longevity alone should be studied

Her dance pop era in the 2010's with the glamour aesthetics is my favorite era of hers :jonny2: She actually had a handful of hits during that period such as On The Floor, Dance Again, Ain't Your Mama, Booty, Papi, I'm Into You etc. which is impressive considering she was in her 40's at that time.

Yes and no. I feel like she and her team have partial responsibility tho.

She's good actress but her filmography is all over the place.

A decent singer, but her musical outputs can range from amazing to ehh.

I do feel like in the last few years she's suddenly become more serious about her outputs, which I love as a fan and look forward to seeing what's to come.

She had a LOT of hits from 1999-2003. She was a MPG during that time.

What a woman. Her spray tan was always tasteful and she never cheated.

Yes. I'd pick her over any of the late 00s - onwards girls any minute. Her string of hit songs and albums at the cross of the millennium, the music videos & looks, the beauty and sex appeal, the wow factor and star quality are pretty much unrivaled by the newer crops of pop 'stars'.

I was too young to witness JLo's late 90s/early 00s peak as a musician (I only knew her as an actress) but 2011-2013 JLo had me eating out of the palm of her HAND :jonny5: idgaf what anyone says she has given us so many bops over the years

She's had an as big or if not bigger career than some others praised to the hilt here, so yes, very underrated. Success isn't just awards and reviews.

I don't think it's underrated, it's just that her peak was quite a while ago now. She had a one off smash in like 2010 but besides that her dominance was like 1999-2005. Realistically only the oldest gen z are going to remember that
