Other than Sales and the overrated songwriting thing I don't see what makes makes Qualified for number 1. I'm sorry but the Beyhive and other fanbases be telling the truth about Swifties. Beyonce sings way better than her and dances way better than her. Bey music is way more interesting than her and music is more acclaimed. Beyonce also fits the Popstar mold that Taylor Swift doesn't really fit which is why she is clowned on a lot. Nobody  said Taylor swift doesn't sell records and is not dominating but we know for a fact Bey is more respected than she is. Beyonce has hits, Great tour stats and has sold over 200 million records worldwide but also has the talent as well. Taylor swift does have talent but she is not a great singer at all and doesn't have great dancing skills to distract from that. No shade but for Y'all to think that Taylor out of all people is better than Beyonce is Racism. Impact is more than just sales.

Because GREATEST to them means best selling or most streamed. Mcdonald's does sell a lot of burgers but it doesn't mean it is the greatest example of a meal. The greatest list by billboard was clearly an editorial piece where people from billboard thought bey was more deserving of that title.

 

Taylor sold more albums than Aretha, Patti Labelle, Diana Ross but i wonder if that means Taylor is greater than all 3. I think not

Cause they cannot fathom a metric of success other than sales. Taylor is so bland she never was and  never will be an advocate of anything substantial the way Madonna,Gaga,Bey etc are. They have ,through their personas and their art, stood for something. That's what actually makes for substantial pop culture. 

 

Yeah she's really skilled at songwriting but at the end of the day, picking cute words to convey nothing meaningful, is not that impressive.

 

The reason people call her "white mediocrity" is cause she's applauded for being a great entertainer,songwriter,singer/whatever when anyone without vision and hearing imprairments, can see that she's nowhere near the level of her peers (wether they're black/queer/more sexual women), and she's that succesful cause she's a walking "white girl" stereotype with songs that have the art of a somewhat melodic white noise

This is what like 99% of ATRL arguments boil down to tbh. This thread is giving "I think the thing I like is greater than this other thing, how can anyone possibly think the other thing is greater?" I checked Adele's reddit when she was listed #10 and people there felt like she is ranked too low

 

Same with the reddit of Bieber fans they think #8 is too low

 

Kanye forum is full of people who say he is ranked to low

 

Britney fanbase (Breathheavy) think she should be #1 or at least top 3

 

Than i went to Gagadaily, some users said Gaga should be #1

 

I saw Drake fans on Twitter that he should be #1

Well, look, you have to be able to express a bit of credit in someone's prevail on being accessible. I don't believe even her stans believe she's the best at everything, especially not in some metrics like singing and dancing. And I'm not going to **** on her songwriting, since I think she's actually very good at writing, but she's a master of the 4-chord medley and that's fine. She's a very strong example of "don't fix it if it's not broken". With all that being said, it's important to note that she isn't the worst at any of these metrics either. I can't personally really answer as to why she's found such resonance with the GP, but she's not the only artist I have that sentiment on so it's kind of one of those things that it is what it is.

 

You also can't devise a metric system on what makes someone "the greatest" and throw sales out of that based on the fact the person at the top of that list isn't who you want them to be. It's swings and roundabouts.

No shade, but it's bc of ppl like you who completely disregard Taylor's talent which simply lies in other areas than Beyonce's, for example. Just bc she's commercially bigger than everyone else combined and multiplied by 10 doesn't mean that's all there is to her.
