What a beautiful ballad omg  I just discovered it today...I'm literally moved and shaken tbh. Wtf?! why is this like not one of her signature hits? Is it just cuz its a ballad? It's so melancholic and while Madonna does not have the voice of the vocal trinity who were smashing in the 90s and competing against her she STILL delivered such a moving vocal performance in this song:

It's an ok song but probably my least favorite of her #1s. I'll Remember is the song that deserved to go #1 and deserves more recognition for being left of field for Madonna. Crazy for You too is so incredible

SLAYground is so underrated  the extended version with the extra verses is so wonderful too… we need more praise, there's too many people who just can't comprehend the greatness of it!

I've just listened and it's gorgeous!! it's not quite at the level of songs like Crazy for You, Live to Tell, or Take a Bow for me but it's still very nice  also I REALLY need to watch A League of Their Own soon, my roommate keeps telling me that Rosie O'Donnell and Geena Davis in it would slay me lol

Glad u liked it too! The melody is so good! And same! I have to watch that film lol I've been on a bit of an old film kick so it should be exciting! Also I need to hear crazy for you! I don't remember that song at all. Madonna's discography is so damn huge

IT IS!! i feel like there are so many gems from her 21st century albums too that deserve to have spotlights shown on them a bit more… like Nobody's Perfect, Nothing Fails, X-Static Process, Masterpiece, Come Alive

one thing Madonna always does is excel at ballads even when she's at her worst fat nasty and broke (MDN/A, Repel Charts) she always has a couple of ballads that bring out the best and most creative side of her

It does have a video and yeah, it was for the soundtrack of "A League of Their Own" and did provide an interesting alternative thematic take of Madonna just before the segue into the "Erotica" era (this of course not being on that album):

 

However, just because it was from a soundtrack (and not from her sexiest album), it doesn't mean she wasn't singing about an experience dear to her.
 

There's also a long version with additional lyrics over an additional verse.
