Are the new gens moving away from dark things?

I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed that we're moving away from the minimalism and muted colors of the 2010s toward something more colorful and vibrant-maximalist :giraffe:—this applies to music, tech, and even fashion.

People seem tired of the sadness, the "everything is cringe" stick, and the edginess of the 2018-Early 2020s and are havin a  "I dont give a *** atittude now"

I wonder if this shift is happening because Gen Alpha is slowly taking over and the pandemic thing is over
, or maybe I'm just DELUSIONAL?

Things like Wicked, Barbie were-are popular. Y2K things. Camp Singers are loved again. Chappel, Sabrina, The Brat Era.
Billie moved to happier music for her last album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT with lunch-birds of a feather
There's also rumours of how Olivia Rodrigo next era is RED and it will be less sad than GUTS-SOUR.
Doja Cat coming with a POP RECORD next.  Dua Lipa movin from Experimental to Pop bish again :gaycat4:
Like there's some sort of small shift in these last two years

and we can see how music with darker undertones is not as loved as before....is just there

Of course. Trends are cyclical and dark sad things will be popular again but for now i think things have a lighter tone? :gayriahcat1:
Thoughts?

I would say that minimalism and darkness are separate, but I see where you're going with vibrant maximalist design and aesthetics contrasting both those things and being relatively popular right now. This is one of those trends that I think simply ebbs and flows, and no side is ever completely gone. Minimalism peaked in the 2010s and has been on the backslide for a while, but it will be back; darker, moodier aesthetics will similarly be back again, just not so soon after the world recovered from the pandemic and decided to contrast its stark isolation with highly sensory experiences.

They're just temporarily drifting away from darker moods as they prepare for reputation (Taylor's Version) :jonny:

Thanks for your appreciation hennie. Love it :gaycat4:
im not well versed in the design-creative world but i been noticing how in my country things are takin that turn. Less dull
Thanks to everyone here for all the future comments :gaycat3:

There's a research and it shows how in times of struggle people turn to happier things.
But we been havin a mixture of good and bad things this decade. Everything convoluted
So, i dont know if this is works anymore

I personally want Taylor to have her Orange Era next for T12. Something Uptempo-Dance or Tropical
She's been releasing too many melancholic albums in a row and its time for something fresh. Enough sad songs

and for Gaga her next album looks like its real dark and goth :gaycat4: and is in danger of flopping real bad
So i think she should save all the darker songs for the album-the bsides and come with the Lighter-Happier songs for the  singles
Disease sadly flopped.
She spilled how the album was diverse and blending so many genres. Hope there's an Edge of Glory there.

Minimalism and dark aesthetic are two completely different things

All the #relatable BS feels like an excuse for lack of (any form) of talent nowadays so I support a shift towards ava maximalism.

Oh yes totally. My mistake doin only 1 thread instead of two. I just feel like the GP is tired of both
They want maximalim and they also want lighter things :gayriahcat1: i was wondering if i was the only noticing the shift

I'm sure in a few years they'll all start having their Good Girl Gone Bad moments.

Jojo Siwa deciding to do it this past year at the worst possible time 😂

I don't feel like the general public wants maximalist music or aesthetic; at least, that's not what happened in 2024 anyway.

Yes, but we won't see the fruit of that before a long time

I think we're still in it, but you can feel the tides changing
