IBeMe Posted Friday at 08:36 AM Posted Friday at 08:36 AM (edited) We've waited for one of the main popgirls to give us a Ray of Light album and none have been able to (note I said Main Pop Girl because some of the more indie popgirls have actually given us solid spiritual / lyrically interesting records before and after Madge). We waited for Gaga to do it, she hasnt, we waited for Dua to do it and so far that looks unlikely to happen, we waited for Beyonce and she hasn't, we waited for Rih and she retired etc. Now I think Taylor may be the only one that could do it. Ray of Light was amazing not just because of how beautiful and interesting the melodies and lyrics were but also the narrative around the record of Madonna's religious transformation, exploring world faiths, becoming a mom, finding new meaning in life etc...She dyed her hair black / let her hair be dark and talked about religion and her child in interviews, worked with one amazing producer as the main producer and really tapped into a sound and image that was not really explored by any other MPG before her or after her in such a cohesive way. I feel like only Taylor could pull something like that now and really surprise the public perhaps after she has her own kid (if she chooses to have one of obviously). It wont happen anytime soon because it's obvious her next records will likely not sound like that or have that type of narrative (she isn't there yet in her life) but I do think by like TS15 or something she may actually do another hard pivot and give us something truly interesting both lyrically and sonically just like Ray of Light was. Thank you and God bless Edited Friday at 08:37 AM by IBeMe 4 2 9 10 45

Wicked Posted Friday at 08:51 AM Posted Friday at 08:51 AM Can you define what you mean by a modern Ray of Light?
Bartender Posted Friday at 08:54 AM Posted Friday at 08:54 AM It's kinda in the cards TS12 has to be really good
PartyFavor Posted Friday at 08:55 AM Posted Friday at 08:55 AM The only people that care about Ray of Light are stans. Literally no one else in real life knows that album exists and its not even a top 3 best selling madonna album. stans really need to let this fantasy go please spare me the essay replies. this isn't shade, its the truth. 6 2 5 27
Solaria Posted Friday at 08:59 AM Posted Friday at 08:59 AM Twigs is already coming with Eusexua. Taylor doesn't have the vernacular to pull of a Ray of Light 8 1 1 1
Popular Post ONOPKA Posted Friday at 09:11 AM Popular Post Posted Friday at 09:11 AM Girl even Addison Rae is doing a better job of making a RIL part 2. Taylor's creative streak ended in 2020 (5 years ago) 20 7 2
izebize Posted Friday at 09:17 AM Posted Friday at 09:17 AM What exactly do you think a modern Ray of Light is? None of the artists mentioned in this thread have had the career trajectory/duration that would allow for that to happen. None of them have the very heavy album-by-album image and sound reinvention that was typical of Madonna either. 9
Popular Post xokuba Posted Friday at 09:26 AM Popular Post Posted Friday at 09:26 AM (edited) Never laughed that hard. She needs to give us Erotica and Bedtime Stories first and I'm afraid she can't pull that. Edited Friday at 09:27 AM by xokuba 16 8
Popular Post KillingYourCareer Posted Friday at 09:27 AM Popular Post Posted Friday at 09:27 AM (edited) But she won't & you will deal. Go stan someone else if you want a Ray of Light, they might not provide the commercial success you need to win online arguments but they'd at least make music you enjoy. PoisonedIvy Posted Friday at 09:44 AM Posted Friday at 09:44 AM She will, once she is forced to reinvent herself while also relinquishing the death grip she has on succeeding commercially. So in about 6-8 years or so. And it will be amazing. I can't wait 2

Popular Post Kayseri Mantisi Posted Friday at 10:15 AM Popular Post Posted Friday at 10:15 AM saying this for an artist who is most afraid of innovation in the industry is beyond laughable lmfao. it's so ridiculous that i thought this was a Taylor setup thread by an OTH at first. to say this, you need to find someone who's their main goal is reinventing themselves with EVERY album they make, making sure to never try the same sound ever again. such as Lorde. 22
Princess Aurora Posted Friday at 10:55 AM Posted Friday at 10:55 AM Don't do Taylor dirty I'd like Taylor to try hyper pop after hearing that Girl at Home remix but anyways....
