Oh but what will OGH's do when this imaginary 70+ Metacritic score average goalpost gets debunked? They'll change the goalpost again! Nvm the fact that Metacritic itself codifies scores of 61+ as green, not 70+. And the cycle repeats.

The OP is about AOTY not Metacritic. They are different websites. It is understandable for Gaga because she is polarizing.

OH my bad. The scores are quite different, how is AOTY weighted differently vs Metacritic?

That's what happens when you don't play it safe. Unlike the top 3 who made the same album 2 or 3 times in a row.

Imagine being one of the most decorated young artists (Billie), one of the most acclaimed artists (Olivia), and one of the biggest versatile hit machines (Dua Lipa) and being told you play it safe compared to Katy Perry :rip:

All of them have released iconic albums that people love and still listen to so the critics didn't have much of an impact on their careers it seems :michael:

Katy remains consistent as always. :clap3:

Four great discographies, I love my ability to think independently from critics' opinions :clap3:

They consider scores from all outlets (even Fantano)

yeah they're mostly singles artists

Nicki has 0 good albums and the others only have 1-2

There's 3 other girls you could have mentioned but went ahead with the lowest hanging fruit.:rip: Gaga, Rihanna and Nicki have far more diverse discographies than the new girls who have benefited massively from poptimism  and coddle culture

I agree they are all versatile but none of these pop girls are playing it safe. An argument can be made for Dua but I've never heard anyone confusing any one of her hits with each other.

Gaga should be higher and where's Carly Rae Jepsen? :rip:

tbh the late 00s/early 10s pop girlies for the most part weren't critical darlings at all, and still suffered from unfair treatment

Something something about critics being wrong

In reality none of them have a perfect album. This is not surprising at all

Rihanna's albums didn't get enough credit at the time of release. I think the frequency often made the critics feel they were McAlbums but all of them have aged so well. Rated R, Loud, and Talk That Talk all sound amazing despite being over a decade old.

Exactly this along with Unapologetic as well.

Rih's discography has aged pretty well for someone who's music was deemed "fast food" music.

Thank you for proving critics don't mean anything once again <3

If she didn't release Not My Problem, Dua would be #1 :clap3:

rihanna - her not "writing" most of her music is the reason

nicki and most especially katy deserves even lower scores

Nah, Katy's OOTB and especially TD are severely underrated.

Honestly, who cares about critics? They're no different from any Atrl user.

Yeah Rih's discography is excellent, super underrated. The first two albums were a little shaky (with some great singles and a few killer album tracks), but Good Girl Gone Bad and everything since has been flawless.
