No I originally saw Tate on SYTYCD where she made it all the way to the finally and finished 3rd. She was also a popular YouTuber at this time where she would post videos of her singing her original songs on piano. Then in Canada she was releasing music since 2019. Her song Stupid played a lot here. She then released You Broke Me First as a Canadian only single but it went viral and became a worldwide smash, which afterwards is when she got signed by RCA in the US. 1
