In this instance, the brick wall is public perception, I've clarified several times that I was talking about general celebrity status, impact, influence, etc. Companies wouldn't dedicate huge initiatives to understanding and manipulating the perception of their groups and competitors if it wasn't the #1 most important thing in driving popularity.

 

LegendFM are my favs too but they've been the victim of a hate train that has unfairly labelled one of the greatest GGs of all time on stage as bad performers and also put them as the "enemies"(all these girls know each other and are friendly) of the #1 and #2 groups thanks to the ador scandal/hybe leaks. Crazy was my favorite kpop album last year, passing releases from all of my other favs and I've said this several times in this thread. NPC streams and a large fanbase and my own personal opinion don't erase that LSRF now has a tainted reputation. Groups never recover from that type of thing, especially not GGs. Just like NJ was on track to be bigger than the entire industry but was stopped by external factors, lsrf was positioned to be at aespa and NJ's level but has hit a wall.

 

So much of kpop is a smokescreen between media play, sajaegi/streaming farms, and bulk purchases. Hits, powerful fanbases, touring, and public perceptions are the true measures. The fact that there are groups like griddle and nmixx who on paper are even in this conversation when we all know they don't come close in the real world speaks volumes more than another 10 pages of back and forth could. Those groups are doing good work and extremely talented and also popular, but they aren't global icons or the faces of kpop.

Who would you pick between BIGBANG, 2NE1 or SNSD if you had to pick just one?

I would consider GD, IU, and SNSD as all equal in how hard I stan. GD would be far and away #1 if he released music or promoted it or toured ever but that's not the world we live in. Work ethic is something I value as a fan. This is how SNSD and aespa became my #1s and also how I got the perception of being an SM sheep, because their artists are held at gunpoint to do the most for fans 24 hours a day.
