IVE and NJ falling off quickly and I swore this base were saying they are untouchable :matty:

I mean NJ just had misfortunes, they are caught up in company battles, so I don't think it counts as "falling off"

However, IVE...so far they are trending downward...their latest title is a serious fall in success compared to the past, it's struggling to reach top 10. Maybe they can pull it back with their 2nd title. But Rebel Heart is boring and so far it's failing to capture attention.

This gen is definitely different; glad to see a lot of mid tier groups that would be on the verge of disbanding in the 3rd gen still thriving off of touring.

meanwhile most the top/high tier groups (aside from aespa :-*) have been inconsistent over the last 2 years so I imagine this year will be crucial for many

and February already looks packed (IVE, Jisoo, Tots2Teens, Lisa, Rescene, StayC, Madein) but we need Jennie to drop the next single and album date asap since YG desperately needs all the pinks back after Coachella :matty:

They certainly did, even if we remove all this company drama.

Supernatural / How Sweet are underperformance base on their standards

This is not a shade to them but to their fans screaming how they are the Korean beatles so when the payola runs out / music is not giving they are just like any other regular Kpop group  :bird:

Speaking of Jennie...has she revealed any more info about her project? It feels like she wowed everyone with Mantra but then just disappeared again. Lisa and Rosé dropped multiple singles and I'm surprised Jennie didn't do the same

Also, the others already have released (or confirmed date to release) their projects, but I'm not seeing many updates about Jennie's album. It seems like YG has them on a strict schedule for BP to comeback and tour by summer, so is she waiting until all the other members have released or something?

the song is simply not great and the concept is terrible

can't really blame korea for not stanning

Either way, off the record and baddie debuted all out of the top 10 :rip: Baddie managed to have a PAK, heya despite peaking at #2 was according to Gallup, one of the most loved songs in Korea :cm: Rebel heart is rising, and the title will push it to the top 5 like baddie did with either way.

And NJ didn't fall off at least in Korea/Japan

Blackpink debuted with a PAK and they had minimal promo for years. YG thought BM would get the same success now they're getting out charted by KIOF so they have no choice to promote them to the death.
and ironically a Thai idol is more relevant in Korea than Jennie 2.0

Payback

natty is a superstar and kiof's discography is so good

I dont like illit cause they're nj copycats but their music is fresh and listenable

meovv is serving avant guard, beauty and they have teddy. I actually think they're blackpink's daughters

babymonster just be doing 500 different concepts and nothing is sticking. the music is either the same dated yg mess or a basic ass song there's really nothing in between. I wish nothing YG but the absolute worst in this world

It was hinted that her album will release in March before her Coachella performance

New information about her new single & album is coming soon

G-DRAGON making his return to music and T.O.P being on Squid Games has definitely helped giving BIGBANG a resurgence, which can be seen by their numbers increasing everywhere right now.

BIGBANG is probably the only 2nd gen group that could've still been successful in the streaming era, if they didn't disband. They are pulling the same amount of streams as TXT right now for example

My faves Legacy is cemented. Few groups will ever have a Song as big as Gee. Or a group that is a cornerstone of Hallyu itself. What's a Billion streams to the building GG funded for an entire 2 generations of SM sheep?

2024 Circle Year End:

#9. How Sweet - 455M

#33. Bubble Gum - 320M

#41. Supernatural - 279M

#200. Right Now - 83M

Every song they released last year made the YE charts. They saw a huge decrease in global streaming success, but that has more to do with their label not pushing them - Spotify is a mostly fraudulent platform where you either need a huge fanbase using Stationhead or a label that invests in you a lot.

It's only natural to have some hits and misses. But "I AM" just became their third 1B point song and "HEYA" is about to surpass 400M digital points in March. Even Accendio, with its bombing, did 128M digital points last year and it's still charting.

NJ were the #1 digital act of 2024 and they were #1 for album sales for female acts. IVE were the #5 digital act of 2024 (with one comeback) and #5 for album sales for females.

its really weird that jisoo already has an album release date (feb 14) and jennie still hasnt announced hers yet :deadbanana:

idk whats happening but she just posted on insta the other day with lots of studio photos and posted this on weverse today "Get ready to receive the gifts that will pour out from me. Hehe." so the album might be ready to go and the announcement was just postponed because of the LA fires

But Tokkies said Hybe has never done anything for NJs and it was all on MHJ so what is the truth?

HYBE never did anything creatively nor supported the girls in their personal development. The label paid for playlisting and gave them access to certain manufacturing, but they also took a significant portion of their revenue to pay for it so it's not like HYBE did it because they wanted to support the artists.

What makes HYBE even shittier is that they were still taking that some cut of the revenue in 2024 from NJ to fund struggling groups like LSF and ILLIT, yet they stopped pushing NJ on Spotify and cut a significant portion of their promotional and advertising materials in hopes they could transfer that success to groups they had more control over.

"I Am" was their last monster smash hit, so clearly there's a market for garbaj music.
