Honestly my fave Selener. I stan her since 2009 and i remember that when i went to her only concert here in Rio - Brazil in 2012, she already had countless interviews saying that her true passion was acting and we did like a paper undersign asking her to not stop singing :deadbanana: and here we are, she had the #2 biggest song in the world in 2023 with calm down, so not only she lasted being a singer, she lasted being a successful one :clap3:with this year being her first year 100% full as an actress.

Definitely Taylor. I loved her back in 2007.2008 a lot but her music was too balladistic, cutesy and teenlike
I used to always downplay and be like..........Ok she's just there next to the Big Electropop divas lmfao
The guitar girl singin corny romantic songs

Beyonce. Her renaissance in the 2020s was such an unexpected thing even if she's insanely talented cause She was slowin down in the 2010s
That album with jay z and how poor the gift did. I was bitter about her lack of success and im glad she's back on top

Charli XCX. To me she was a flash in the pan. What a powerful artistry was there

The Weekend.

Selena and Demi.

Dua Lipa for sure. But I'll be damned, her recent live album is amazing.

Other than Rihanna as an obvious answer, I remember thinking I Kissed a Girl was this weird indie sleaze bop that didn't really fit in the 2008 music landscape. Katy then smashed with Hot n Cold and that confirmed she'd be a big star.

Releasing I Will Never Let You Down bought her eternal relevance :WAP:

Ellie Goulding, i thought she'd be left behind in the early 10s but shes managed to maintain a decent career not only in the UK but also in the US even if shes not scoring huge hits.

Shocked at people saying Olivia! She grew a core fanbase when she was on HSM the series. Was kind of obvious she was gonna smash & serve longevity.

Dua Lipa. DL1 was faceless & generic pop music. Thrilled she came through with FN. we'll see about her 4th album tho…

Meghan Trainor. I thought she was gonna be done in 2019/2020 when Thank Myself kept getting pushed back. Did not expect her to get a pretty big hit in 2022 with Made You Look, but she deserves all the success.

There are probably a lot more I just can't think of right now.

Lil Nas X, who I wasn't expecting anything from post-2019. I feel like it would've been so easy for his career to be overwhelmed by the success of Old Town Road, especially with it being viewed as a meme song (at least at first). The fact that he managed to have a successful follow-up era with Montero and score two huge #1s (+ another hit) was impressive, even if his new stuff is not resonating

Post Malone.

I remember when this song came out and was popular for a little bit

Thought he was gonna fizzle away afterwards but here we are almost 10 years later:suburban:

This was my exact first thought

Cardi, i thought when she couldn't deliver her debut in 2017 and Bartier Cardi couldn't match Bodak Yellow's success she was over, but she proved me wrong

After hearing Munch I thought Ice Spice would be a zero hit wonder, but somehow she got multiple top 10 hits.

Maybe Y2K finally will be the end of her but we will see.

Olivia Rodrigo screamed one hit wonder to me (she still does), but she has two of the most streamed female albums of all time and a SOLID pure buying base from her two debut weeks. I think her music is simply waaaay too immature for me to like her. Screams angsty teenagers who are upset they didn't get what they wanted.

Wild guess here but you are not a teenage girl ?...:keir:

Olivia Rodrigo

thought the gp would be over her fast since she's just another Avril Lavigne and Hayley Williams clone

Many artists of this 10-year period..

It's not that I don't like them..but so many pop stars were easily failing 10 years ago, that I can't believe the acts rn are thriving easily, by releasing mid ass songs lol

I expect her to have another underperformance with her next era

it's just that her type of fans, don't let go so easily

I don't think anyone expected Olivia to smash the way she did

(especially not with DL)
