Gaga has stayed away from the hip-hop scene for a long time, but at the start of her career it was prominent. She had Flo Rida on her debut album, she made a song with Wale for his album, she even dipped her toes in the genre by herself with Paper Gansta. And for the monsters, who can forget the unreleased songs with Trina (Let Dem Hoes Fight) and Eve (Guess Who's Single). What are your genuine thoughts of The FameGa with her rap features? Did it low key work, or was it another white girl does rap cringe?

As a Gaga and rap fan, I low key love revisiting those songs. She sticks out so much but in a weird way it works. Meanwhile you look at the stuff she was making in 2012 with Kendrick or Azalea and it just sounds like… a parody. But back in 2008 there's something about this New York Italian with long blonde bangs going off on a rap song that makes sense lol.

make her say and paper gangsta are great, cake, j&d and chillin not so much. trashiness and camp of the fame made it work but theres no need for more of that.

It really used to feel natural to her but she lost her cool factor and Jewels n Drugs happened. She really needs to go back to New York and find herself again.

At the start of her career? It was great, actually open to the sound as she showed she could be versatile for her debut album. On ARTPOP? it gave parody / career suicide / cry for help.

TF Gaga was literally a different person… she was so cool, just a weird cold b*tch. As OP mentioned she stuck out on those early collabs but in a good way.

She made it work with that nasally white valley girl tone she used that was clearly inspired by Gwen Stefani. I wouldn't say it was iconic or integral to her brand at the time in any way, but it wasn't cringe either.

The BET award winner pulled it off well at the beginning of her career.

Legit was about to type exactly this and then saw your post. Agreed, it worked and I loved the hook.

Her entire essence during The Fame was iconic. Her brand and image captivated me way more than her music (which I enjoyed, but her image is what made me stan her).

Everything during The Fame + Monster was incredible and she could do no wrong. Truly one of the greatest eras of all time. :clap3:

"Paper Gangsta" is probably my favorite Gaga B-side ever.

It is true that it felt natural during the Fame days and then became a parody during Artpop, idk why..
