I wonder what's happened for her to do this. She wrote (or gave away) some soulful tracks for non-melanated artists in the past (my fave Demi among them lol).

Isn't she responsible for one of the whitest least soulful sounding songs in Rihanna's discography - California Dream Bed?

She seems confused.

I mean I don't really see a problem with it. It's her writing and who she wants the songs to go to.

That was more than 10 years ago lol. Her writing could have changed.

Plus CKB is a classic, **** your mouth!

I completely understand why she feels this way. It's been promising to see so many emerging black artists get steam in the past two years and it makes more sense to invest within the community to people that stand to benefit more from refining a sound rather than someone putting it on in relation to trends (Miley, ns Ariana, Justin, etc) who can then turn around and go to a mega producer/songwriting camp and make way more money off of it.

Seems racist to me. Someones race shouldn't have anything to do with it and the fact that she admitted that and people praise her? :rip:

Racism on any side is not ok.

The shite that some of you guys say on this site is truly headache inducing.

A comment can still be racist regardless if there's oppression imposed or not.

I get where she's coming from and she has a very right to feel the way she does.

That said, did she have to post about it? Over-sharing. Could've said no and moved on.

"Hasn't she wrote for White People in the past?"

Yes when Black people have less power and are forced to work underneath the White Supremacist power structure then they do things they don't necessarily agree with at the behest of those with power aka White people. When they get a little bit of power to lessen the presence of a oppressive boot on their neck (as it is impossible to escape White Supremacy in it's totality regardless of how much money or influence one garners) then they can finally speak up about having more options and ability to say no.

"Couldn't she just stay quiet and not call out White Supremacy?"

Get ****** babes. A Black person celebrating and being loud and proud at saying "NO!" to White people trying to push them to sell out their art and culture isn't a wrong. She's entirely within her right and I am happy to see she has the ability to say "No" because she didn't in the past.

Will she stop speaking english too since it was originated by "non-melanated" ppl? :rip:

She speaks English cause her ancestors were kidnapped and sold 400 years ago and tortured if they didn't stop their actual customs.

Since you thought this was an intelligent post. Bunch of morons on this website.

What a narcissist. She acts like shes doing charity work. She's basically saying that she doesnt want to be paid for work within her respective field for a specific set of potential customers. But then again this is the type that will be the first to claim racism cause white people gave her exactly what she asked for. Such a dated mindset (like her music).

Some of you are clearly okay with the concept of Black artists being relegated to background workers for white people :skull:

But she's the one with a "dated" mindset :deadbanana4:
