That makes sense but if she doesn't many others will so in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change much.

On the one hand, I think you shouldn't decide whether you work with someone or not depending on their skin color. I could understand her not wanting to work with someone she doesn't connect with or whose artistry vision she doesn't share.

On the other hand, she can can work with whomever she wants and shouldn't be forced to team up with someone she doesn't want to. I guess she's got her reasons. I just think it's not always cultural apropriation. Sometimes it's cultural apreciation. Some white artists that were born during the 90's and 00's have grown up listening to R&B and consider that their background and their roots.

Good! Just listen to the terrible Justin Timberlake gospel records on his last album if you need any kind of reassurance there is nothing any white person can add to a soulful song written from a black American perspective. They can write their own inspired tracks themselves

And how do you guys not know Muni Long?

Seems racist to me. Someones race shouldn't have anything to do with it and the fact that she admitted that and people praise her? :rip:

Racism on any side is not ok.

You can disagree with her decision but this is in no way racism. A discriminated group can't opress the privileged.

A comment can still be racist regardless if there's oppression imposed or not.
