HeavyMetalAura Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago That's her right and boundary as an artist but a bit odd
PartyFavor Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago That makes sense but if she doesn't many others will so in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change much.

Sabandija Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago On the one hand, I think you shouldn't decide whether you work with someone or not depending on their skin color. I could understand her not wanting to work with someone she doesn't connect with or whose artistry vision she doesn't share. On the other hand, she can can work with whomever she wants and shouldn't be forced to team up with someone she doesn't want to. I guess she's got her reasons. I just think it's not always cultural apropriation. Sometimes it's cultural apreciation. Some white artists that were born during the 90's and 00's have grown up listening to R&B and consider that their background and their roots. 3
Mornings Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Good! Just listen to the terrible Justin Timberlake gospel records on his last album if you need any kind of reassurance there is nothing any white person can add to a soulful song written from a black American perspective. They can write their own inspired tracks themselves And how do you guys not know Muni Long? Edited 6 hours ago by Mornings 1
JustHoran Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Seems racist to me. Someones race shouldn't have anything to do with it and the fact that she admitted that and people praise her? Racism on any side is not ok. Edited 14 hours ago by JustHoran 5 1 3 1 16

You can disagree with her decision but this is in no way racism. A discriminated group can't opress the privileged. 14 2 1 6

Talento Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Does the president of Atlantic know that this happened?
Popular Post king_queen Posted 13 hours ago Popular Post Posted 13 hours ago A lot of people in this thread are lacking the historical context and significance of why she's saying what she's saying Not surprising in the slightest… And it's crazy bc this stuff is so well documented 20 6 1

Popular Post ChooseyLover Posted 12 hours ago Popular Post Posted 12 hours ago I can see where she's coming from. It's no secret how certain white singers got where they are in big part thanks to black producers and songwriters but these black creatives themselves are somehow condemned to stay behind the scenes. I'm glad she finally got her moment and stood her ground. 20 1
