HeavyMetalAura Posted Thursday at 05:57 PM Posted Thursday at 05:57 PM That's her right and boundary as an artist but a bit odd 1

PartyFavor Posted Thursday at 06:11 PM Posted Thursday at 06:11 PM That makes sense but if she doesn't many others will so in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change much.

Sabandija Posted Thursday at 06:20 PM Author Posted Thursday at 06:20 PM On the one hand, I think you shouldn't decide whether you work with someone or not depending on their skin color. I could understand her not wanting to work with someone she doesn't connect with or whose artistry vision she doesn't share. On the other hand, she can can work with whomever she wants and shouldn't be forced to team up with someone she doesn't want to. I guess she's got her reasons. I just think it's not always cultural apropriation. Sometimes it's cultural apreciation. Some white artists that were born during the 90's and 00's have grown up listening to R&B and consider that their background and their roots. 4 1
Mornings Posted Thursday at 06:21 PM Posted Thursday at 06:21 PM (edited) Good! Just listen to the terrible Justin Timberlake gospel records on his last album if you need any kind of reassurance there is nothing any white person can add to a soulful song written from a black American perspective. They can write their own inspired tracks themselves And how do you guys not know Muni Long? Edited 22 hours ago by Mornings 2
JustHoran Posted Thursday at 06:31 PM Posted Thursday at 06:31 PM (edited) Seems racist to me. Someones race shouldn't have anything to do with it and the fact that she admitted that and people praise her? Racism on any side is not ok. Edited Thursday at 06:32 PM by JustHoran 8 2 3 1 24
dumbsparce Posted Thursday at 06:41 PM Posted Thursday at 06:41 PM Will she stop speaking english too since it was originated by "non-melanated" ppl? 3 2 3 6

You can disagree with her decision but this is in no way racism. A discriminated group can't opress the privileged. 19 3 2 10

Talento Posted Thursday at 07:12 PM Posted Thursday at 07:12 PM Does the president of Atlantic know that this happened?
Popular Post king_queen Posted Thursday at 07:26 PM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 07:26 PM A lot of people in this thread are lacking the historical context and significance of why she's saying what she's saying Not surprising in the slightest… And it's crazy bc this stuff is so well documented 25 7 1

Popular Post ChooseyLover Posted Thursday at 08:17 PM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 08:17 PM I can see where she's coming from. It's no secret how certain white singers got where they are in big part thanks to black producers and songwriters but these black creatives themselves are somehow condemned to stay behind the scenes. I'm glad she finally got her moment and stood her ground. 22 2
