TTPD & all of its 30+ songs flopped on year end lists. Why?

Houdini came out last year. I remember seeing it on a few lists and Training Season was on a few lists this year as well

Training Season? Should have been Maria.

She's just over exposed and the way she promoted and marketed the variants sinked the credibility

In another time this albums would probably have a much better reception

Where

#21 on BB year end

#10 on popbase year end

Honestly DWAS isn't a ground breaking song, it's very classic sounding.

Because only 12 yo girls and 30-something gays take her seriously. There should be no room for this album in a list that measures quality and artistic value, not when it's clearly manufactured for nothing but overconsumption.

That user claiming a random year end list aggregate is better than an AOTY Grammy and using Midnights' AOTY win as evidence when Midnights was number 10 on THE WEBSITE THEY POSTED is SENDING me :deadbanana2:. The logical knots OTH tie themselves in so they can delude themselves into thinking she isn't incredibly acclaimed…grateful that's not my journey!

Anyway, as others have said, Taylor media fatigue is major right now because she just had the biggest imperial era of all time. Despite that, the album's reviews are decent (a few publications have even said their initial reviews were wrong), and it's nominated for AOTY at the Grammys. Pretty sure most artists would prefer that distinction than *checks notes* an aggregate list on a random website!

It wasn't as critically acclaimed as other pop releases this year and that's fine

But please as if any Year End list cares about the deep cuts of most albums, let alone one with 31 tracks.

Midnights was #10 in the albums list for 2022 and Anti-Hero was #4 in the songs list :ryan3:

I thought critics lists were the prestigious barometer of quality so why are you questioning Midnights' quality? :clack:

You aren't really disagreeing with them.

Why would the 10th best album (according to these metrics) win AOTY.

Cause Critics and the Recording Academy are different people.

This is just silly. For one, not all those albums competed in the same Grammy eligibility period. For another, you're splitting hairs of highly acclaimed albums at this point. AOTY is bigger than just the music. It's the impact, the era, the charting, the acclaim, and the artist all rolled together. And it's certainly a greater honor than a random website's aggregate. The fact that this even needs to be explained/said speaks volumes about this thread :deadbanana2:

Over exposed and then over diluted her loyal fan base between the overstuffed album and rereleases

You ghosted me in a thread about racism but are talking about what speaks volumes. Didn't quote me in there but are quoting me faster than lightning about something silly. Interesting.

Anyways, this is the OPs point of contention in the first place :skull:

2024 was STACKED with good music, another bland record by Miss Swift and Jack Antonoff couldn't compete with the talent of others I fear...

Beth Gibbons getting the recognition she deserves!

This is a completely ridiculous thing to post lmao. What're you trying to imply here? How did I ghost you? You didn't even ask me a question. You expressed an opinion and I didn't engage.

Also sometimes you're online and sometimes you're not. Like what even is this post? :deadbanana2:

#10 is still 9 places behind the #1 tho :toofunny2:

Even on ATRL itself the Grammys get more attention, discourse, feedback and excitement than critic year end rankings.

And 'Midnights' had more points on this aggregate site than 'SOS' (ATRL's favoured AOTY pick) if you were to combine its 2022 & 2023 points. The way the goalpost always changes. :deadbanana2:

SOS came out in December. December releases get brutally shafted every single year. Feel free to provide the receipts for their respective placements on the best of the decade lists so far. I don't need to check to know that SOS would stomp Mid

I guess the other girls set the bar too high for her to catch up. The fact that Addison had more acclaim with only two songs should tell you enough.

None of the songs she released were as good as Diet Pepsi.

You might be able to answer it yourself with all the time you spend writing about it/the Swifties :suburban:

And that's enough, I got tired of seeing your posts but there are a lot more. You should try getting a life outside writing about an album you allegedly hate so much.

OT: Critics didn't like it, I guess :ryan3:

Omg wow, you found 9(!!) negative posts I made about Taylor in the past 6 months!! I know you Swifties are good with receipts, but this has to be a new low. And also that's a little ironic telling someone to get a life coming from someone constantly crying about not having a life and suffering from a depression as a result in certain designated threads that I should not name here :toofunny3:

Coming for someone's depressive episodes on a stan war and talking about reaching a new low. I'm not embarrassed about my depressive episodes and about my depression. I talk about it so maybe I help other people. However, you are just a miserable hater posting on a forum. I hope you get better
