base talk TTPD & all of its 30+ songs flopped on year end lists. Why?

Critics list will forever remain the prestigious barometers of quality unlike peer/fan voted awards like the Grammys or Nickelodeon. Taylor released a good 100+ songs (if we count all the many versions that are available) this year and had the biggest album of the year (by the numbers), but neither the album nor any of its songs managed to make it into the Album of The Year aggregate Top 50 albums or Top 50 songs of the year. What happened?

Only on ATRL you'd see people thinking being up for AOTY at the Grammys is inferior to ranking high on a *checks notes* random aggregate site.

Because, once again, it has become uncool to like / praise Taylor's music. The cycle has just reached that phase as it does every 2-3 years 

 

Give it a few years and she'll be back to receiving folklore levels of acclaim

It always been like this, not just on atrl. Music lovers / people in the know would always check for critic lists. Grammys never had credibility and always been seen as a joke, giving AOTY to the most random albums and completely ignoring the best works. Midnights has AOTY ffs

Clearly bias against Taylor because it's the trendy thing to do. They will be crawling back once they need her again lol

Simply, many others musicians released better quality bodies of work. If everyone could be honest enough to say it was okay, and not great. 
 

She was 51st on the albums list so she just got cut off.

It's not an album that appeals to most critics ideas of a noteworthy album. That's okay as long as the fans like it.

Midnights was #10 in the albums list for 2022 and Anti-Hero was #4 in the songs list 

 

I thought critics lists were the prestigious barometer of quality so why are you questioning Midnights' quality?

Even on ATRL itself the Grammys get more attention, discourse, feedback and excitement than critic year end rankings.

Houdini came out last year. I remember seeing it on a few lists and Training Season was on a few lists this year as well. Not nearly enough to be top 50 most acclaimed but yeah
